Yes or No, do you think big 'arry has stepped up to the plate this season or is he just not good enough for Hull City?
I didn't notice him in the semi final, I was more impressed by their RB with the beard who was on loan to them! Not noticing him means nothing, defenders by nature go unnoticed in opposition teams IMO, it also means he didn't have a mare in that game! Good piece of business by SB from what I've seen of him so far!
The argument you were having was about building a team around him, potentially in the Premier League, which is a very different proposition. I don't think there's many that think there's a problem with him playing this season.
Harry's ok and can only get better - he's good going forward BUT he is a bit slow and if he gets caught out then he takes his time to get back into position - he also gets turned a bit too easily because he stands too close to the back of the opposition - first 20 minutes against Bristol he was **** and not much difference to Junior - rest of the game he really started to get it together and started to look a really good prospect
Agree(disagree regards Bruce jnr) , got no problem with Harry in the championship and on Saturday he got better as the game went on, the only problem I can see is maybe against a better team those first 15/20 minutes could have been costly, he's got to be on his game from the word go.
Centre backs are generally not the quickest but in time learn to read the game. He is still learning and will develop playing and training with Dawson and Davies. He is certainly holding his own in the Championship, whether he makes it in the premiership OTWT.
The thing is OLM I wasn't having an argument about building a team around him, that was a figment of Waggys imagination
I've seen this slow thing mentioned but I'm not convinced by it at all, is he that slow really? When I've seen him playing can only think of one occasion he looked flat footed and that was v Swansea, possibly up against Routledge. On Saturday I think he was exposed by Robertson a bit early on too which led to his yellow card
I reckon he's quite quick actually, a bit of a Jagielka type. Time will tell. Just hope he has a good game v Derby if selected but knowing Bruce he will pick Bruce jr. which is fair enough too, might need a bit more experience in that match.
It's admirable that you want to stick up for the lad, but I'm not sure that claiming black is white will aid your cause any.
He just needs to cut out the barging in the back with his arms wrapped around them! A couple of times he's been pulled up for it! He needs to watch how daws fouls/stops players without it looking so obvious!
He needs more first team games, both for experience and fitness and for us to make a worthwhile judgement.
https://uk.video.search.yahoo.com/s...=a874d62fe07bab826c38b3280ef9dc29&action=view messed this up a bit - but watch Downing goal when we lost 3 0 - Maguire was totally out of it
Based on what. Time wont tell. He's built like a ****ing shed. He wont get quicker as he gets older. He's a good young strong CB. Whether his reading of the game is good enough to become a PL player twt. But pace will never be a part of his game.
Speed isn't something that many defenders need in their locker. Some have it, which is nice, but even Harry would be kidding himself to think he could do somebody like Andre Gray for pace. He will get better, we've seen improvement from him already and he did well at Wigan despite their relegation. At 22 it's hard to say if he will be good in the Premier League or not, if he has a packer defender next to him it might not matter as much. With Dawson alongside him it could be a bit of a bitch in the top flight, but he did alright against Leicester and Vardy. They don't come much trickier than that at the moment.
Watched about 60 mins of your game before ours on Saturday and thought he played well but ****ing hell he's slow. Repeatedly done for pace. His booking summed it up.
