Terrible scenes in Berlin. What a pathetic world we live in. Russia's ambassador to Turkey was also killed by some twat who started shouting the usual nonsense after. I despise Islam (and religion in general) more than anything. Although Roly is doing his best for the top spot.
A 48-team world cup? It used to be 16! FIFA say they have support for this silly idea, not from me though. For one thing it could mean Scotland being humiliated in front of a global audience rather than in front of a few thousand. For another you'd still get the endless qualifying games anyway, just that more teams per group would get through. You'd get more and more meaningless games, they'll end up killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
Wondering if you guys might be able to assist with something - recently a friend of ours was diagnosed with colon cancer (36, no age). The operation to remove it was successful but unfortunately there were some complications after which caused him to have a severe stroke. He spent the next 9 weeks in Kings receiving in his own words "incredible treatment" and has asked a few of us if we would be able to organise some fund raising for the dept who did so much to stabilise him at a concerning time. My request isn't for money, but a question as to what fund raising ideas you might have seen that were quite unique, rather than just run a marathon (which we will probably do as well). We really want to do something that shows some of the characteristics that he's faced - bravery, dedication, heart etc. It's proving harder than anticipated to agree on something so we've opened it up to social media for ideas.
We explored white collar, but the organisers pretty much wanted all of the ticket sales from tables sold.
****ers. All you can eat competition Sky dive Strapped to the top of the plane ride (believe it or not, that isn't the official name) Mock Olympic competition Charlton Athletic fans drinking competition (reams will be granted Charlton Athletic fan status for one day only) One of those extreme army course things A play (dickplumb can write and star in it) These are all terrible ideas, but I'll blame that on the copious amount of food and drink ingested over the last few days. Glad his cancer operation went well. How is he after the stroke?
Appreciate any ideas mate - the extreme army one sounds good! He's getting there. Now moved to a specialist place in Orpington and was granted leave for Christmas day. Just sucks as he was a newlywed with a little one on the way.
I played at a gig for guide dogs at Orpington Liberal club recently. There are a lot of good amateur musicians around who are happy to play for free for a good cause,
We have signed an 18 year old kid on loan from Chelsea Jay DaSilva He plays in the same position as Lookman
Does your friend support any sports teams or follow any particular music bands? If so, there is always the possibility of setting up an auction, with the assistance of said teams, bands et al. I'm always up for making a donation, too.
I keep thing "What would Curbs do?". I doubt he'd be reliant on an untried 18-year-old to get him promotion. When I read about Fox moving on I thought it's now or never for Archie Edwards. Seems like never. Has Robinson seen Edwards and DaSilva and made an informed judgement? Or has he been told what to do?
He comes from a big footballing family actually - his cousin Darren currie played for Brighton and another currie played for England around the World Cup 66 time I think. Great shout, I'll speak to his brother about going down that avenue. Big thanks
