I have just watched the full 90 mins on football first and I watched Richardson closely. Now I don't think he played anywhere near as bad as some are making out.

    Lets give him a chance!

Bad error for the penalty but didn't have the nightmare some are making out, would give him a 6. I still think we need a proper fullback but he did improve second half and covered quite well.

So you saw him give away the ball constantly, fail in his defensive duties, which got even worse when Kuyt came on and was leaving Richardson by using the amazing tactic of stepping one yard away from him! Let Suarez trot away from him to score his header. :)
And you want me to give him a chance? :p <rose>

Richardson was poor in the 1st half, but improved in the second. 4 in the 1st half, 6 in the second. so his average rating from me would be a 5.

I think its difficult to even attempt to defend KR performance today. We got a great result in spite of him.

What was he doing letting Suarez in??? Then he trips over him????? Stonewall penalty and hard to argue had he got a red card.Completely at fault for goal.Gives Suarez free header. What was he at?? Trying to play offside???

No the lad not focused enough to defend properly.

there were some exceptional performances today, but Richardson's wasn't one, poor marking, should have been sent off, consistently gave the ball away when we were in possession, his fault for their goal, need i go on, don't think so?. we need a left back not him his days are numbered, he has produced some reasonable performances, but at the end of the day would be better at Wolves Wigan West Ham ext. we need quality now not a squad player who lets the side down with rash decisions.

I'd agree KR didn't play brilliantly today and we know he can do better.

However in the lads defence he was playing against Luis Suarez. I'd bet there's a whole load of defenders who suffer against him this season.

I'm of the old school, where a defenders FIRST job is to be able to defend, game after game after game. Anything else after that is gravy, and we have consistently seen KR NOT able to do so.

I've said numerous times that he is not - and never will be a LB. With the signings made this window, he is a squad player at very best.

IMHO he is a jack of all trades, and nothing near a master of any.

I both like and feel for Richardson because IMHO he gives his all but is just not a full back, never has been and never will be. I dont blame him, indeed I thank him for trying his best but he does not ask and I dont think he wants to play there.

Hopefully O'Shea will be fit next week and that will solve the problem because he will play so one need to drop out.

On yesterdays performance can we drop Bardo, Brown or Anton, not for me so Ricco must go. Not sure if Bruce will agree.

Bruce seems to like him and yes, he got forward and looked the part with his commitment and speed - the trouble is he was left back and was a weak link for us.

Richardson was poor yet again yesterday so why FFS does Bruce persist in playing him as a defender?
MOM yesterday for me was Wes Brown (that'll come as a shock to Cest) did everything that a defender should do no frills no pissing about just defend. Thought Larssons goal was very good and if that was Rooney, Drogba or Torres it would be the best thing since sliced bread and goal of the season already.
Didn't expect much from yesterdays game except a decent performance which in all honesty it was not in the first half, second half made up for it though. As a team performance a very good 7/10 at a tough place to go, only downer was the ease that Suarez (as good as he is) managed to scythe through our defence maybe that will be addressed in time with a new CB or even get O'Shea fit just hoping here.

Rico will never make it as a LB for me, squad player to either be wide right or behind the front man, think he gives his all but it's not enough
