A lot of black underneath. I wonder what they are hiding. But looks very aggressive. I hope they are a surprise team this year and the drivers perform.

For those fans of grim news.
I've seen a few stories now about Ferraris 2018 PU not being ready yet so they're starting the season with a souped up 2017 one. It's coming from the mildly dodgy Italian sites so I assume some political wrangling is going on to get someone fired.

Crikey, I hope Renault have made the leap up to Merc then, or else it could be a repeat job of Merc domination..........AGAIN.

okay, I had read it had passed its reliability testing on the dyno. Is it a horsepower issue then?

I seem to remember reading something about steel alloy pistons not being where they needed them to be so they were delaying using them but were using a completely new cylinder head.
Cant remember where I read it but was in last few days.

It sounds like a standard development curve really, which this year will be focused on reliability more than ever.

Trying to find out a bit more about Ferrari and their winter developments. Seems like the 2 big developments they hoped to run in 2018 are not ready/reliable enough yet! It seems that previous engine chief Lorenzo Sassi was pushing for steel alloy 3d printed pistons. This was to enable them to run higher combustion pressures and thus more power, the aluminium alloys cant cope with the increases in temp. The 3D printing was thought to be only way to reduce weight of steel piston and enable enough cooling. It seems like the steel piston concept was cancelled after Lorenzo Sassi 'left'.
The cylinder head also seems like it is not quite ready so wont be on the first engine! It is being suggested that the new cylinder head would have helped with a quali mode! So it is looking like Merc will be way up on Ferrari power.

I hope Renault have found some reliable power to at least give Red Bull and hopefully McRenault a shot at fighting Merc even a decent battle for the 3rd podium spot would be good.

    god halo looks total ****.

I can't recall... Did the shark fin/silly paper wing get banned or did the teams manage to get it back in. I just can't recall if the move to get rid stuck last year.

Stick a silly flappy wing middle of that car and its just totally gone to pot. the halo has it all but now.

Shark fin was banned, but not closed completely as now they all have a spine......which is more than can be said for RBR's boss.

There is some serious rake on that car.

Think the livery is a beauty personally!

Halo obviously divides opinion- does it not obstruct vision? (Apologies for such a simple question!)

I can only think that the central pillar is a minor issue relatively but will be interested to see people at the starts. lights out and there could be a lot of leans in cockpits.

The full length fin is gone, but there's still a minimum size for the engine cover, so the sponsors have enough space. Minimising the engine cover size is aerodynamically favourable, so the teams are hitting the cross section requirement with the stubby spine instead.

Yeah, from some angles its ok but form the side views the car looks chubby

I just think last season aorund this time the cars looked mean, and powerful. I don't think we've seen it in racing due to bolt ons and now we have this.

    well **** it..

someone added a cock ring on the front to match the strap on fins from last year.

the cars are flacid and need sex toys to get them going it seems :bandit:
