Seems like our tenure in the PL is about to come to an end, unless by some miracle we beat Stoke and Huddersfield lose their last 2 games. However, to beat Stoke we will have to find the net - something we have done just twice in 8 matches. In fact, it's no wonder none of our players work as fishermen for a living, they'd bloody starve to death not finding the net...... In fairness to Dai, he sussed Carlos fairly early - once his novelty value and quirky phrases faded, we have been on a steady downward spiral. Whichever Division we will be in next season, a new Manager is required - but who will select him? Huw? Pearlman? Landon? I suppose most of us suspected that we would have been relegated in our first season - so staying as long as we have is something most of us would have taken, particularly after our 0-4 loss to Man City in our first ever PL match. However, having had the opportunity to establish ourselves, we have gone and wasted it - the League Cup win followed by the Europa League were arguably the highlights. The downward spiral coincided with Laudrup's departure and the Board focus on an exit plan. Well, we were promised that the Yanks would take us to the next level - what we didn't appreciate at the time was that the next level was the Championship...... As for Sunday, I have a feeling that freed from their failed attempt to avoid relegation, Stoke will play with an air of freedom and abandon....... Stoke to win 0-2
If that's trying, I'd hate to see them take a stroll ...... oh, hang on, I have - against Spurs in the Cup!
Just plucked up the courage to re-view their goal. Second goal in a few days to be scored of a deflection from Mawson, this time the inside of his right leg. Had he not got in the way of Fabianski the ball would have been in the goalkeeper's hands.
Rumours abound that Carlos could get the boot before Sunday - some people suggesting that he has a clause that triggers a contract extension if he keeps us up........... Personally, I think Dai has been right about him for a good while now. If they oust him, I guess it would be either Leon or Curt (or both) in charge against Stoke.
Get Leon on the pitch with some of the U23’s....especially if we’re down after tonight. Out with the old, in with the new. I never want to see Ki or Caroll play for us again.
I was gutted we didn't get a point. Didn't look like like scoring. Players tried hard but lacked a bit of quality in the last 3rd. Humping balls up to Abraham when he came on. We lost that speed of passing style that we used to play Ki was'nt great and too many side or backward passes from other players allowed the Saints back into position to defend.
The problem all sides face when presented with an 11 man defence is making space to attempt scoring opportunities. The smart move is to be patient play the ball all over the park and waiter the opposition to leaves spaces, gives us time to breath, them run around and get frustrated. What we did under Rodgers.
Can anyone hear the fat lady singing because i cant....We may not have our fate in our hands anymore but we still have a chance as i think Hudders will lose both games and we somehow will beat Stoke, We were the better team against the Saints on the night but just could not score and that has been our main problem in a lot of games......Where we are getting it all wrong with Carlos is playing 5 at the back and that indicates playing defensive football and you rarely win games playing like that you are playing for the draw where we should be playing for the win. This is where Carlos shows his inexperience and not good enough....I hope Chelsea and Arsenal play to their potential as it will be disappointing if they dont and a big let down.....We are still there but Carlos has to get it right but whatever happens he needs to go back to the lower leagues at a different club......
Wouldn't mind Arsenal losing tonight - might gee them up for Sunday Anyone watching the Chelsea game? Sounds like it could be a very long night.
