I also agree Gandy. Jerome wasn't keen to leave and was full of praise for DF. He simply said that at 32 he felt the extra sessions. CJ always gave 100% to the cause. If there are any players who resent the extra training then I'd just as soon they moved on. We need young hungry players who want to improve their game and who are willing to put in 100% in training and in matches. I'm sure that's not going to be difficult for the likes of Godfrey, Morris, Cantwell and Matthews and Tettey knew what he is signing on for as well.
Yes, well said Rick. I'd like to go back slightly on what I said about Jerome. I've always liked him, and 'good riddance' wasn't fair. You put it much better than me. I think 'he would've if he could've but he couldn't have' is more the point! I stand by what I said about Oliveira (more what I didn't say really).
The question would seem to be whether we are prepared to up the ante on Dusseldorf's bid of €3m for Ducksch. http://www.insidefutbol.com/2018/05...ker-deals-english-sides-transfer-blow/376639/ I'd hope that we would be, but time will tell.
They have offered E2.5M with an additional half mil if they are not relegated. We most likely could match, or ever better, this figure, and probably salary would be higher with us, but the lure of playing in the top league in his home country may prove decisive.
So Villa are losing JT and looks as though Grealish could move on as well. Rumour has it that Bruce's head could roll and they are also in financial difficulties. Jofhnstone (GK) will return to ManUre as well and of course Snoddy and Grabbar5e will return to their parent clubs!!! 'Villa have paid the big bucks in a desperate attempt to get out of the Championship and they’re now set to pay the price.'
Just goes to show what can happen when a team tries to BUY promotion. It will be interesting to see how they fare next season and I wonder if ALL those 'fans' who turned up to see them beat Boro will return for their opening home game!!!!!
Not transfer news, but Paddy Davitt has been looking at Tom Trybull's contribution last season and what he might bring to next season. "Stuart Webber’s success in persuading Trybull to extend his contract, until at least 2021, may not have grabbed the same headlines as some other pieces of business, but could prove to be one of the more astute signings in the seasons ahead." Trybull's competitiveness, ball skills and partnership with Tettey were a key part to our turnaround last season and he was certainly missed after his injury. Like others who came in last season, he is now very settled and should start the new season full of confidence. http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/canaries-report-card-series-tom-trybull-1-5536930
If Webber can pull another Trybull out of the transfer hat this summer, it'll make such a difference. Hopefully a full year of preparation has unearthed some gems!
Indeed RER and I'm HOPEFUL that a place can be found for Godfrey and TC in the midfield set up next season
I am really hopeful that Adam Idah will be given a chance. His potential seems limitless, so we must be the ones to take advantage, before the circling hoards swoop and take him from us. Mourinho has likened him to Ibrahimovic, so he is already attracting attention.
It would be good to see Morris, Abrahams, Fonkeu and Idah given a chance in the cup games initially. Idah is playing at U17 level. His first step is elevation to U18s then to the U23s before joining the senior squad. That's the route Maddison followed.
If you're good enough you're old enough. Idah (I haven't even seen him play but listening to the hype) could very easily bypass those age group levels to start getting bench time and u23s if not played. It's difficult to say, but tear it up in pre-season and he might just be in the first XI plans from the off. Rooney, Owen, Wallcott and others have made club debuts at a similar or even younger age and even made international appearances too. Maybe he isn't in those players league, but it is the championship not the PL, so its a lower level, that the hype suggests he might be ready for very soon. Bah!
I wonder if we'll hear anything about our "already signed" signing by the end of the week? Most contracts expire 30th June, so if we've signed a player with an expiring contract, you'd expect him to be available to join up with the squad shortly after that.
