I know a man who knows. He did it in training. It is being kept quiet. Players definitely fit for Saturday. Phillips Maynard - Brewer, Solly, Bauer, Pearce, Sarr, Marshall, Aribo, Lapslie, Maloney, Grant, Hackett-Fairchild, Taylor has a calf injury, I don't know whether he is fit. Pratley is half fit. Have I left anybody out?
How could I forget? That's thirteen players possibly fourteen if Taylor makes it. This is truly embarrassing.
This sort of injury usually means out for the best part of the season, at least. It's hard to believe there could be 4 squads weaker than ours in L1. And the transfer window is still open. The vultures are circling.........................................
Who of them can deliver a decent cross. With JFC we had a chance of Bauer and Pearce getting a few goals
Lapslie is a promising player, but he is not ready to replace him. What do we do in training that produces all these injuries? I have never felt this apprehensive about a new season. Message to Bowyer, we need new players and we need them now.
No news on JFC from the club yet. Assume Centre mid tomorrow will be Aribo and Lapslie. They will probably make the classic Charlton mistake of rushing Darren Pratley back before he is fit...with inevitable consequences...
This is from Dr Kish and he is usually on the money. please log in to view this image FORSTER-CASKEY OUT FOR THE SEASON 03-Aug 01:41, by Ketts Lee Bowyer lost another senior member of his squad on Thursday. Reliable sources have said that Jake Forster-Caskey sustained a serious ACL injury in training on Thursday. The rehabilitation time after this type of injury is around nine months, which would rule Forster-Caskey out for the season. The midfield general joins Billy Clarke, Anfernee Dijksteel, Tariqe Fosu, Ben Reeves and Igor Vetokele on the long term injury list. Lee Bowyer is down to the bare bones squad wise. He may have to start one of his academy youngsters at Sunderland, and could have as many as five on the bench. Dillon Phillips was given the number one jersey when the squad numbers were released on Thursday. Perhaps significantly, Johnnie Jackson's number four shirt is unallocated. The way the injuries are mounting up, the popular former skipper may yet make his 500th senior appearance. Bowyer will not have too many decisions to make ahead of the trip to Sunderland. Dillon Phillips will play behind a back four of Chris Solly, Patrick Bauer, Jason Pearce and Lewis Page. Due to Forster-Caskey's injury, Darren Pratley is likely to partner Joe Aribo in the engine room, with George Lapslie and Mark Marshall on the flanks. Lyle Taylor is expected to partner Karlan Grant up front. This is what Bowyer had to say about his team at Thursday's press conference: "We’re as ready as we’ll ever be. Obviously there are a few things that we’d like to change but are out of our hands regarding injuries. "It’s been a bit unfortunate since we’ve played the games we’ve picked up some freak injuries. "But that’s just the way it goes you can’t control that but everybody that is fit and well are definitely ready." Charlton could line-up like this: Phillips; Solly, Bauer, Pearce, Page; Lapslie, Aribo, Pratley, Marshall; Taylor, Grant. Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Mascoll, Sarr, Maloney, Morgan, Hackett-Fairchild, Ajose. The referee will be John Brooks of Leicestershire. Sunderland will be roared on by 30,000 passionate fans, who will be desperate to see their team improve their abysmal home form of the past two seasons. Manager, Jack Ross, is new to English football, and has brought in plenty of new faces. But the Black Cats have injury problems of their own. The Addicks are often at their best in times of adversity, so do not totally rule out their chances of getting a result.
I was disappointed with Lee Bowyer’s comments yesterday that Duchatelet wants promotion like he does, and is supporting him. How is 12 players out and 2 players in from a team that only finished 6th last season “support” ?! Please don’t go down the Gobbo route Lee ..
