One thing I notice which I thought worth a mention on here from Saturday - we were behind at half time having not particularly played well - yet the entire SAFC crown got behind the team. Applauded them from the field. It's as if the change in structure/management etc has infected the entire club from the supporters down! Long may it continue,

That was my concern watching it on the box, how the fans would react at half time going in 1 down.

It was great to hear some applause inspite of the performance and scoreline.

It'd be unrealistic to expect that all the time as we know how fickle our fans can be! But it really was refreshing - everyone around me in the north stand (except my Dad who's turned into a right negative miserable old bugger!) applauded them from the field. Hopefully it stays that way

I think virtually the whole crowd is prepared to give Ross and the new regime some time before they make judgement.

    Appears that way anyway.

Far better to have 30,000 intimidating the opposition instead of intimidating our own team. The crowd really were our 12th man.

The camera zoomed in on the crowd and panned across the stadium and I only saw white folks! I've never seen such a sight. I'll bet when you go to the grocery store, everyone speaks english. I never experience that either.

Just watching the highlights back - when Maja scores he looks quite shocked that it actually went in I think! Sort of a delayed reaction to celebrate!

I thought he was expecting the keeper to save it and was surprised it went in, it was an accurate shot but he should probably have kept it out. McLaughlin looks fine but I guess we can expect a few dodgy keepers in this league.

Keeper should have saved it comfortably, that's probably what shocked him.

So many players have said that when our crowd are on full belt it really does make them feel unbeatable. Yet we continue to abuse instead of support. Hopefully we have now turned the corner. Great performance by everybody at the club, fans included.

You say that like its a problem.

Have you ever been to Sunderland? We're not your typical southern UK city.

I think he surprised their keeper, he turned and straight away drilled the ball at the keepers nearpost, I just think he took him by surprise shooting like he did.
we saw our own keeper Ruiter beaten a couple of times on his near post last season, but their keeper should have done better.

He wasn't the best, but what impressed me is that he didn't hide. He made mistakes, but had the balls to keep looking for passes, and to keep nipping in to midfield to win the ball.

The lad who gave away the pen impressed me too. It was a mistake but he didn't let it bother him. He had the confidence to get on with his game.

For the last few seasons we've had a bunch of cowards who want to get on the pitch for their appearance money, then get subbed off at the first opportunity

Maguire gave the penalty away but still got Man Of The Match. That's how well he recovered from his mistake! And very reassuring for the coming season too!

Don't start me off on Ozturk again though <laugh>

Sorry lads but everyone sticking the knife in at Ozturk just goes against everything the new regime are trying, where in this together but apparently a slow start in pre season and a not so great first game “where we won btw” almost everyone is on his back? Bang out of orelder imo.

It’s only one game the manager thought he’s good enough and the manager has made quite a few good calls upto now lets get behind one of our own players instead of looking to hang someone out to dry after one game ffs.

Not really. White doesn't mean English speaking. We've Eastern Europeans everywhere here and their languages are herd daily. We're a multicultural nation, that applies to the North East as well. Why isn't there more Black people in the north east? Don't know for sure but a logical guess would be because of WW2. after war we drafted in people from all over the world to help rebuild Britain, many of these people were black but the North east wasn't hit that hard compared to the rest of the country. Coventry was one of the worst hit and they have a heavy Black population, that's cause their farthers and grandfathers helped to rebuld the place and settled afterwards and had families here and the population has grown. We do have Black people up here and I see many at the game but our black population is very small compared to down south.

Mate it is patently obvious that he is not up to standard anyone with eyes can see that.no disrespect to you intended but from his first friendly he was crap.he Will not be playing in the future.as everyone can see he is the bottom of the barrel and we have better options.i sincerely hope he does come good but playing in the 21 s to gain the experience.
