Ticket sales have slowed considerably for Saturday's big Ricoh Arena clash between Coventry City and Sunderland.

The Black Cats moved up to third place in League One at the weekend after a 4-1 Stadium of Light thumping of Rochdale and travel to the the West Midlands to take on the Sky Blues backed by nearly 5,000 fans.

The running total for Saturday's crowd stood at 13,700 as of Monday lunchtime, which is just 293 more than it was last Wednesday as sales for tickets in the home end have eased off over the last five days.

City's weekend 3-1 defeat at third from bottom Bristol Rovers will not have helped to encourage floating fans to get themselves up to the Ricoh for this weekend's lunchtime clash, which is to be screened on Sky Sports.

So far the club have sold just 1,950 tickets in addition to the 6,850 season tickets and 4,900 travelling fans.

Mark Robins 's men will be entertaining Sunderland - who have suffered back-to-back relegations - for the first time in 12 years, having not met in the city since Coventry won 2-1 on the opening day of the 2006/07 Championship campaign.

The Sky Blues have an excellent home record against the Black Cats dating back to 1930, having lost just three times in 20 games in the West Midlands, winning 12 and drawing five.

Saturday's gate will see the biggest travelling crowd since Birmingham City brought almost 6,000 to town in 2012.

Club statistician Jim Brown said: "The last big away following was two years ago when Bristol Rovers bought over 4,000.

"The last time we had 5,000 was in 2011-12 when Blues bought 5,755.

"There have been 15 away followings of 5,000 and above since City moved to the Ricoh, with the record held by Leeds in 2010-11 with 6,366."

Tickets are cheaper when bought in advance for the clash against The Black Cats - Adult prices start from £22, while Concessions are from £15. Meanwhile, all JSBs aged Under 13 can get a free ticket for the game.

Tickets are available on the day as well as in advance. You can get the advance price when buying at the Matchday Ticket Office if you're a CCFC Member -

I was in the south stand with my mate who's a geordie on Saturday and even he enjoyed the atmosphere! Away at Coventry will be amazing especially if we get an early goal!

Why carry a grudge that long? Haven't a clue how old you are but this bitterness and hatred crap towards Coventry is just **** in my eyes.
