Playing for a draw is dangerous, when they realised we are not going for a win they went for it in the second half. They realised that at Anfield it's
going to be a different ball game. It is not a disaster because we won against PSG at home. After all we are doing better than SPUDS.

The other thing is coming up with a resolution to when Salah is double teamed (I know he's not playing brilliantly but Napoli were doing it). The midfield has to make runs in his place. Keita would probably have made them going on past matches but he got injured.

Energy levels looked off across the team as well.

While it seems to happen at this point in a Klopp campaign...his training was blamed in previous years...there's a clear improvement in terms of position during it.

Hopefully that bounce happens once again. End of day it's not the knockout stages of CL so if I had to have a loss this week it's yesterday not on Sunday.

Remember guys, for all the improvement and optimism we do not have City levels of squad to rotate and freshen and yet at thus moment have only dropped the same amount of points.

i'm the opposite on that in glad we are out, if we had won we would be one of favs for it and it would definitely have caught up with our league form at some point.

yes it could have been a potential cup for us, but at what cost?

do we want to take the next step or not, as that cup wouldn't have been worth it in my opinion, and players don't want to join just because you won that, they want the cl football and potential title winners.

 

Never watch a bad football game like that one when stoned. I really feel sorry for United fans after going through that torment. Not the end of the world and on to citeh. Hopefully we keep up our good record against them

I don't think we played for a draw. That would have been stupid. I think he wanted to win playing a more counterattacking system. But the players were really poor and the passing was abysmal.

Honestly Sturridge should have been on with about 20 minutes to go at least. To win in the last minute would have given Napoli a real boost. They feel that their main competitors are LFC not PSG.

As to red star we should win easily at home. It is the away one which will be key. Going for a point would be useless. So may help the thinking.

Perhaps not, but it felt like it.
It's hard to take that we couldn't muster a single shot on target if we were actually going for it. We've played better teams than Napoli and haven't looked so toothless.

I'm not bothered in terms of the group, we're still in a good position, I'm just a bit taken aback that this team, under this manager, had such a lifeless performance in them in an important game.

 

Maybe we should give Napoli some credit here lads, yes we were poor, but Ruiz, Allan and Koulibaly had a very good game. Allan was every where. While our captain spent most of the game as a centre back

 

i was just digging at Jimmy for his, imo , over reaction but yep Keita whilst easily our most forward looking midfielder was constantly losing/giving away the ball in (very) dangerous positions and it was surprising that hadn't already led to us conceding.

 

Keita carries the ball through midfield whereas Hendo is crablike sideways at best. I think that the tactic was to defend deep in numbers but to quickly join the midfield to the front players and as such keep it tight but maybe pinch a goal. We did neither so whatever the plan was, it was sh*t

You have to give ancelotti credit though, he added a CB but still played us off the park. Excellent tactics that dumbfounded our lot. Their finishing was poor tbh but some of their link up play was excellent. Hats off!

 

Hendo to me has his uses when playing well but one thing I don't get is why he insists on starting so deep and getting the ball off the CB's? He did this constantly against Napoli and bot VVD and Gomez are both capable of bringing the ball upfield and picking a forward pass.
