Let's be honest it's a fight that nobody particularly wants to see. I wont be tuning in even though I can watch it free.
Both such likeable guys. I'd rather they didnt fight each other. But they are and it's a 50/50 to me .
Rivas to me looks very underwhelming. I think hes just too small and lacks the power against someone like Dillian. I expect Dillian to stop him in about round 7/8.
I think you're right Whyte will win it but I really hope he doesn't. Really don't like him and don't really rate him either so would quite like to see him get chinned
I think this has the possibility of being Pacman's last fight. I think Thurman could do a number on him and the Filipino legend might finally decide to call it a day afterwards
Couldn't disagree more on the personality. I think he's a bell end. I don't mind the smack talking though it's ok in small doses from time to time.
After having a look at Oscar Riva's record, I though Dillian Whyte should easily down his man. Other than Bryant Jennings, Rivas has never fought anyone in the top 100, so it would be easy to completely write him off. But after watching him fight Jennings, I think he might do better than I first thought. He's unbeaten in 26 bouts with 18 kos, is built like a brick outhouse, and likes to bang hard. He also has amateur pedigree too, having deposed of Kubrat Pulev at the Olympics, he then lost 9-5 to Roberto Cammarelle who would go on to win Gold. Whyte has fought far better opposition than Rivas and is rightly a 1-4 favourite over Rivas who's quoted at 15-4. Rivas has to give Whyte 4 inches in height, but only 2 in reach. And if he fights like he did against Jennings, he'll be on the front foot. Whyte should win, but I'm now looking forward to the bout.
Well well well. Manny Pacquiao rolls back the years and becomes a world champion again. In the immediate aftermath the talk is of a unification fight with Terence Crawford.
I'm sorry I just can't get behind him. Don't like the guys personality and last night did nothing to convince me he was any better of a fighter than I had thought anyway. Two average boxers in an already average division going at it
I'm a Dillian Whyte fan and would love to see him get that fight with Wilder, but it might be fair way off yet. Wilder has Ortiz next, then a big chance he'll go again with Fury after that. So at the earliest, Whyte is looking at least a year before a title fight. On last night's effort, I wouldn't be putting money on him against the champ.
I don't think Pac gave too much away about his next fight, but I'd be surprised if Crawford was the one. Crawford is an Arum man. The way PBC usually works in these bouts, is to match their own fighers, thus keeping the belt. (Thurman - Pacquiao was an all PBC affair.) If I was to take a punt, I reckon his next opponent will be a PBC man. They have a huge list of quality Welterweights who include. Manny Pacquiao. Errol Spence. Keith Thurman. Danny Garcia. Shawn Porter. Amir Khan. Omar Figueroa. Andre Burto. Leonard Bundu. Devon Alexander. Luis Collazo. Roberto Guerrero. Victor Ortiz. Lamont Peterson. Jessie Vargas.
Spence and Porter are fighting each other in a unification bout. Hopefully Khan doesn't get the Pacquioa fight, doesn't deserve it and he's also a ****
I thought Dillian fought a very smart fight. That said , his opponent was pretty limited. The slight concern I have with Dillian is that he lacks the discipline to fight smart through an entire fight. He loves a dust up and that may cost him dearly one day.
Gotta give Whyte some credit- 10 straight wins since fighting Joshua and he has earned his world title shot. Like Smokey, I don’t think he’s a great fighter (and for me there’s the drug issue too) but I do think he raises his game the better the opposition. Fights against Wilder or Fury would certainly bring some entertainment. Over in Vegas, Keith Thurman got exposed badly by a 40 year old Manny. Well done to Pac-Man but I think it says more about Thurman than it does about Pac-Man! Whether it’s enough to hype up a return with Mayweather who knows- I think that’s the pac man hope. Whether he would fancy a unification with Crawford or Spence who knows. Surely that knob from Bolton hasn’t got a fight with him after that?
His defence is practically none existent. He does have a very good left hook in his arsenal but I think he'll fall short of the top table.
