Anyone taking the time to look at the East, West or South end of Preston? Pubs in Hedon will be expecting a bit of extra cash.
Liked the look of Da Silva & Magennis. Good effort against a **** team. Did all that was needed. Half time team talks must be **** Terry still, quite rightly, refusing to wave.
one first half goal two first half goals three first half goals what next? four first half goals or one second half goal?
Sounds like a comfortable win, all over by halftime. Tafazolli looks as if he will be pushing for a first-team slot, he seems to be a good buy. Nice to see Toral starting to enjoy his football, let's hope he can keep injury free and get a run of games at some point. Cracking cross by Fleming for Toral's goal. Highlights below. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11784957/tranmere-0-3-hull
Preston away won't be an easy game, hopefully, we can get one over on them, I always like to beat Alex Neil side, can't stand the guy. I sat behind the dugout when we played them at home, and what a gobby twat he is.
HULL CITY MADE IT THROUGH TO THE SECOND ROUND OF THIS SEASON’S CARABAO CUP WITH A 3-0 VICTORY OVER LEAGUE ONE SIDE TRANMERE ROVERS AT PRENTON PARK ON TUESDAY NIGHT. The Tigers did the damage in the first half as they kept up this season’s pleasing habit of scoring early. This time they netted twice in the opening six minutes as Jon Toral and David Milinkovic got Grant McCann’s side off to a flying start before Ryan Tafazolli added a third just before the break. As is often the case, the cup offered a chance for the pack to be shuffled and Grant McCann’s starting eleven was completely overhauled following last weekend’s victory over Reading in the Championship. Matt Ingram took over from George Long in goal to lead the list of players making their first competitive starts for the Club. That list also included a central defensive pairing of Tafazolli and Matthew Pennington, Leonardo Da Silva Lopes and George Honeyman in midfield, Josh Bowler further forward and Josh Magennis leading the line. Honeyman captained the side. The Tigers were straight on the attack to take the lead after only 19 seconds. Milinkovic found Brandon Fleming on an overlap down the left and the full back’s cross was perfect for Toral who arrived to head home from six yards. Magennis went close to adding a second when taking advantage of some good closing down from Bowler before seeing a powerful drive beaten away by goalkeeper Scott Davies, but Honeyman kept the ball alive to create goal number two in only the sixth minute. A cross to the far post found Milinkovic and after taking the ball down, an initial effort blocked by Davies rebounded off the Tigers man to find the net. The black and amber attacking tide continued to overwhelm the home side and Davies had to react smartly to prevent a Bowler cross being turned into his own net by Manny Monthe, while Toral dragged a low effort wide from 20 yards all before a quarter-of-an-hour had even been played. A seemingly shell-shocked Tranmere offered their first threat when Corey Blackett-Taylor got the better of Robbie McKenzie before seeing a shot saved by Ingram, while at the other end Da Silva showed his pace down the right to set up Bowler who was kept out by Davies. Toral was again off target from distance, as was Fleming, before a deserved third goal arrived in the final minute of the half. This time it came from a set-piece as Milinkovic’s corner was met by a powerful header from Tafazolli who gave Davies no chance. Tranmere started the second half brightly and almost pulled a goal back through Blackett-Taylor’s stunning effort but his 25-yarder came back off Ingram’s crossbar. Blackett-Taylor then hit the side-netting after a smart piece of play down the left and home appeals for a penalty were turned down when Monthe’s shot was blocked inside the area. A double change just after the hour saw Tom Eaves and Nouha Dicko replace Magennis and Milinkovic before Ingram pulled off a good save to keep out Paul Mullin’s curling shot. A final substitution saw Daniel Batty come on for Toral, and it was Batty’s pass that looked to have set Da Silva on route to goal until a crude challenge from George Ray brought a yellow card the Tranmere man’s way. Liam Ridehalgh sent a diving header against the outside of Ingram’s near-post as the home side’s quest for a consolation goal continued, while at the other end McKenzie’s shot took a deflection on its way just wide as the clock ran down. Tranmere Rovers: Scott Davies, Liam Ridehalgh, George Ray, Manny Monthe, Kieron Morris, Darren Potter (Connor Jennings 62), Morgan Ferrier (Paul Mullin 62), David Perkins, Kane Wilson, Corey Blackett-Taylor (Jordan Ponticelli 80), Ollie Banks. Subs Not Used: Luke Pilling, Sid Nelson, Harvey Gilmour, Stefan Payne. Hull City: Matt Ingram; Robbie McKenzie, Matthew Pennington, Ryan Tafazolli, Brandon Fleming; George Honeyman ©, Jon Toral (Daniel Batty 71), Leonardo Da Silva Lopes; Josh Bowler, David Milinkovic (Nouha Dicko 62), Josh Magennis (Tom Eaves 62). Subs Not Used: George Long, Reece Burke, Jarrod Bowen, Stephen Kingsley. Referee: Mr S. Stockbridge.
Good win and performance. If we play like we have been so far this season for a full 90 minutes we are going to be a difficult team to beat.

Matt Ingram Only had one save of note to make in the first half and made it look comfortable when denying Blackett-Taylor. Produced a far better stop in the second half to keep out Mullin with a strong hand. 7 Robbie McKenzie Not an easy night up against Blackett-Taylor who was Tranmere’s dangerman from the left wing. Never quite got to grips with him and showed he needs games this season to ensure his progress continues. 6 Matthew Pennington A first City appearance came up against his former loan club and he enjoyed a good tussle with Ferrier. Came up with an excellent clearance out of his six-yard box and then denied Jennings late on. 7 Ryan Tafazolli (starman) The summer signing enjoyed his full debut as he powered in a header that made it 3-0 before the break. Equally effective at the back when producing a number of big blocks as Tranmere came on strong. 8 Brandon Fleming Only a fifth City start for the young left-back and looked determined to make an impression on McCann. His cross set up the early opener and gave him confidence to build. Some timely interceptions and tackles. 7 Leonardo Da Silva Lopes Took on the holding midfield role and sat in front of the back four dictating play. Took no chances with his passing but gave City the discipline they needed to see the job through. A confident introduction. 7 George Honeyman Took on the captaincy for his first start and quickly looked at home with a busy and effective effort. Showed awareness and tenacity, bringing the bite that McCann wants to see in his midfield. A very good start. 7 Jon Toral Needed just 19 seconds to find the net with a lovely planted header and that was the stage for him to shine against less skilled opponents. Enjoyed the licence to attack and linked up play smartly. Replaced late on. 8 Josh Bowler Produced some brilliant bits of skill on the right flank but without the end product. Some sloppy touches punctuated his play and try as he might he was unable to consistently trouble Tranmere. 6 David Milinkovic A first start since the FA Cup in January and a first goal in City colours. Fortuitous when deflecting the ball in but he was a danger to his full-back. An enigmatic player, with Tranmere struggling to second guess him. 7 Josh Magennis Promising first signs from the forward, who offered the same physical threat and hold-up play of Eaves. Denied a debut goal by Davies but a lack of match fitness caught up with him after the break. 6 Subs: Nouha Dicko (for Milinkovic 63) Unfortunate to be overlooked but a sign he might struggle for chances. 6 Tom Eaves (for Magennis 63) Gave another outlet but City found themselves unable to bring him into the game. 6 Daniel Batty (for Toral 71) Added some more legs to a tiring midfield as City held out easily. 6 Subs not used: George Long, Reece Burke, Stephen Kingsley, Jarrod Bowen
10/11 isn't bad. If I'd realised Milinkovic was available... Be interesting to see if any of them have played their way into Saturday's team.
