I started to read this but they lost me at: "We would like to remind all supporters to be mindful and respectful when travelling to and from the match and while they are in and around the ground."
With the return train at 10:34, it doesn't sound like they'll be keeping away fans in the ground after the game. I've no idea how police heavy it's going to be, but I have a bad feeling they aren't doing enough to stop violence.
I agree. I actually think this fixture will hit the news for all the wrong reasons. It won't be anything to do with our 5-0 win.
I've got a suspicion that the police will 'allow' it to kick off in small pockets and just have the cameras out ready to nick and ban people in the coming weeks. It does all seem very relaxed at the moment, particularly as it's the first competitive night game at Fratton in 40 years! There's no chance that our fans won't be held back imo, it took over an hour to clear the streets in '04 didn't it? Can't help but think with this being the first meeting in a while that there will be loads of theirs looking for it after the match under the cover of darkness. Including loads who won't have even been to the game.
I've been known to be a dab hand(no pun intended) at filleting fish - never got me a job with Saints though
Would love to have gone - as long as the only people caught up in actual violence are those intending to look for it im not that bothered. Hopefully none of the Saints lot think its a good idea to vandalise local businesses - that really pisses me off.
I wondered what happened to him, at the time PFC seemed rather uninterested in pursuing the case. I'm glad he got a ban. I understand they think it's sensible advice but I find suggesting Saints fans not wear club shirts in Portsmouth sad and rather annoying. It's not really provocative to wear a football top to a football match, I wonder if they'd give the same advice to Pompey fans if the game were at St Marys. It is giving in to bullies and threats of violence imo.
I was at the last skates game at SMS - it was like a military operation the way the fans were bused in, then out again. Hope nothing kicks off on Tuesday.
Tuesday, 24th September 2019 Portsmouth v Southampton Referee :- KEVIN FRIEND Assistants: - Matthew Wilkes and Mark Scholes Fourth Official :- Dean Whitestone No VAR to protect us this time I think?
....and in the next breath encouraging you to the shop to buy a shirt and "wear your colours". Proof (if needed) that I am definitely getting old - opting for coach travel rather than train. Done my time battling back to the station down there, would like to get home in home in one piece and in time for work on Wednesday!!
I must be naive. I’m pretty sure the police will have a plan and will know exactly how to keep anyone but the absolutely determined troublemakers apart from each other.
They'll never spot the skinny, spotty, ginger 14 year olds wearing pink jumpers that talk like their balls haven't dropped yet though....
