Alioski and Costa had really good impacts from the bench. Probably won us the game. Costa is impressing me more and more every game. Hernandez looked dangerous without it ever really "coming off" for him. It's almost like he is on a different level to anyone else on the pitch. Even though Dallas had good opportunities. He just can't play in the middle with Klich. Get Shack back. It'll have to be Pablo at 10 with Harrison and Costa on the wings next game. Roberts looked hamstring problem.
We weren't bad. Just a bit wasteful in the final third. Just little decisions like when their full back had just been booked and Costa had him isolated one vs one and he tried to cross early. Just run at him and try and get him to commit a foul. Could be pen and a red. Things like that we got wrong all night.
Good work to shoehorn in Alioski’s part in the goal. I’m not a fan of his as a winger but he did well when he came on tonight.
yeh, we’re wasteful in the final third pretty much every game... we create more clear cut chances against the sides that try and play a bit. I wouldn’t argue though... just thought we played some quite nice stuff in build up and overall deserved the points.
Evening all, from a new member. Thanks for the great stream. Delighted with the 3 points tonight but I worry about how hard we are finding it to breakdown teams that park the bus against us. Still, a win is a win, and great to be at the top of the table, for now at least.
We're my (old) eyes playing tricks on me or does Costa look a bit more lean than when he joined us, i.e. Bielsa is getting him into the shape he expects from his players??
If we could find someone to take a decent corner we'd win every game by 3 or 4 goals. Just seems a wasted opportunity.
I watched it all on Sky, I never checked in on anyone’s thoughts until now, I thought we played okay until Roberts went off and far better afterwards. Funny enough I nearly popped on to say Roberts is having a poor game just before he got injured. Costa impressed me tonight, we need to see more of that, we played a lot of dangerous looking balls and corners into the box but nobody seems to be able to beat a defender to the ball. Worst corner of the night was Pablo losing control of the ball and I thought Bamford had a poor game tonight and White was so easily MOM today he should automatically receive the next award too. We’ve had some tricky away games against teams that we never usually do well against and we’re top of the table so we have no genuine cause for complaint. Roberts injury might be a blessing if Costa keeps that form up but more worrying we really don’t have a back up striker now and with Roberts injury being a hamstring it’s no quick return
I disagree, I think the corners in general have been played in to good dangerous areas, I just can’t believe none of our players are able to attack the ball
I agree with this. Sometimes a lack of desire to compete for it and when it lands on the head of one of ours the effort is always misdirected.
That may be true but I'd have thought by now, knowing that we don't have any players capable of attacking the ball, we would have varied the delivery of the corners. After all we've had 111 corners so far this season and scored from one so surely the penny has dropped that it's not working.
Yeah, we're not a tall team, but even so, we should do better from corners than we are doing at present. And I worry whenever the opposition gets a corner against us as our defending from corners is not always convincing.
