The only positive stat I can bring up on this game is the Palace fans have a horrible replacement bus service between Marks Tey and Ipswich before rejoining the train to Norwich.
I do fancy us to turn the corner here and win. Think it is too late for the season, but we need to bet into the credibility zone that our overall play has deserved. I reckon we are about 8 points light on that front, possibly slightly more
Interesing selections. Byram never deserved to be dropped v Spurs Argos had a good game v Spurs Mclean worth a recall. Solid team 3-0 win for me
So Stiepermann, who knitted together a lot of our good attacking play against Spurs, and showed once again how he can keep possession and move us forward in the tightest of situations, is rewarded with a place on the bench? I don't get it. (Apologies for departing from the unadulterated positivity that has so far characterised the thread DD )
Not sure I agree with this. Far too often we get caught on the break when we have the lead and that puts us in our most vulnerable position - exactly how Tottenham came back. We can’t seem to defend on the break. So I would rather we try sitting back for once and playing on the break ourselves. Annoyingly, though, we can do very little when Pukki is on his own....
I get the theory. I just mean pretty much every goal we have conceded recently has been us getting stung on the break (including the penalty won by Harry Kane). Which means that maybe trying to play counterattacking might be a better option, which does indeed incite pressure. But we do not seem to concede goals as often in those circumstances. Decent half but we have thrown away too many wins from here for me to be comfortable until we have three goals or the 90 mins is up.
