As 2020 is just a few days away, I wanted to know what everyone's notable moments have been (be it good or bad) from 2010 to 2019. There's unfortunately been a lot more pain than joy, but at least we have had a few positive moments that we will cherish forever. What has been your favourite moment of the decade? What has been the worst moment of the decade? What has been your favourite match of the decade? What has been your worst match of the decade? What has been the most defining moment of the decade? What has been the craziest moment of the decade? Who has been your player of the decade? Who has been the worst player of the decade?
I'll start: Favourite moment - has to be winning the FA Cup against Hull in 2014. From being 2-0 down against a side we were comfortable favourites against, and looking like it would be a whole 10 years of going without silverware, we managed to pull it back to 2-2 in normal time. Then Ramsey scores the winner in extra-time. Trophy drought over. An incredible moment, considering I was only 9 years old when Arsenal won the 2005 FA Cup. This was the first bit of silverware I remember clearly. Arsenal never do it the easy way, do they? Worst moment - Getting twatted 4-1 in the Europa League final against Chelsea. This really hurt, as everyone thought we'd win it. We needed it more than they did, too. And it was only our 2nd European final in 13 years. We don't tend to do well in Europe, so I was hoping this time it would be different. Unfortunately not. Ex-Arsenal player Giroud scores the opener and we completely fell apart. Hazard signing off his Chelsea career with a bang. Sarri, who had never won a single major honour, finally gets one, against the man who is the specialist of winning that very competition. The beginning of the end for Emery, in my opinion. Favourite match - Arsenal 2-1 Barcelona. 2011. What a game. We did get a bit lucky, but man, this was an incredible game against what was comfortably the best team in the world with prime Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Pique, Busquets, Puyol etc. We had a moderately young team, and they rose to the challenge. Worst match - Man United 8-2 Arsenal. 2011. Strange that both my favourite and worst matches were in the same year. A dark, dark day for the club regardless. Defining moment - after back-to-back FA Cup victories, and finishing 4th then 3rd respectively, there was a huge opportunity in 2015 to gun for the title. We needed literally 2 players to give us a 'complete' team at that point that would have won the league. Instead, we only signed Cech and didn't sign a single outfield player (being the only club in Europe to do so). This made it clear that the club were not truly ambitious, and Leicester City winning it emphasised what a missed opportunity it was. All downhill since then. Craziest moment - beating Reading 7-5 after being 4-0 down at one point. What an utterly bizarre game. Player of the decade - Very close being Santi and Alexis, but has to be Alexis. This guy was absolutely unreal and single-handedly won us games with his brilliance. His skill, flair and guile made him a huge asset. He was always reliable for us. Shame at how it ended, but definitely the best player we've had this decade. Worst player of the decade - Considering his price-tag and reputation, it is not even close - Shkodran Mustafi. Simply not reliable and cost us far too many games with his idiocy. Horrible signing.
