Lawrence Shankland: Dundee Utd want more than £3m for striker 1 Feb please log in to view this image Lawrence Shankland scored his 27th club goal of the season against Hibs on Tuesday Dundee United will be "definitely" looking for a fee in excess of £3m if they sell striker Lawrence Shankland in the summer, says owner Mark Ogren. The American confirmed the Scottish Championship leaders rejected bids for the 27-goal forward in January. Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers and Nottingham Forest were among the clubs being linked with the 24-year-old. "There were some offers, but we pushed back and weren't interested," Ogren told Radio Scotland. Shankland 'wants to stay at Utd' "We didn't really entertain anything. He wants to finish what we've started here." On Wednesday, United head coach Robbie Neilson said Shankland had told him he wanted to stay at Tannadice to help the club win promotion and play a part in Scotland's Euro 2020 play-off. However, he has acknowledged that the former Ayr United striker could leave in the summer and Ogren conceded that a deal could be struck with United. "We'd be very happy to keep him but if the situation was right for both Lawrence and the club we'd be open to a situation where he might leave," he said. When asked whether a £3m offer would tempt United to sell, Ogren replied: "It would definitely have to be more than that."
Probably explains why we're happy to 'nurse' their loan players, they'll throw us some crumbs when ditching players... https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-qpr-looking-at-young-tottenham-defender

I like the look of this guy. Big but was playing as a winger until U16s at Spurs so hopefully decent at bringing the ball out of defence too, fitting into our current playing style. Free, so not a disaster if it doesn't work out, and seems to be well thought of from Spurs fans online. I think he scored our first goal in the reserves game against Coventry on Monday too. Anyone know if we can sign him now if Spurs release him?
I know he's 33, and well past his prime, but would Ross McCormack be worth a 6 month punt as a back up option to see us through until the end of the season, if wages are reasonable? Given we can't expect Hugill to start every game, and we don't have any senior back ups. I don't want us to ruin Oteh's confidence by throwing him in at the deep end...
Ideally we would be looking for someone in the character mould of Ryan Nelsen or Richard Dunne, someone who still has something to give and is committed to giving it full effort. This type of player is unfortunately few and far between as most it would seem are keen to get a windfall type payday for the least effort.
Liam Ridgewell always struck me as that sort of player, but, not only could he not get a game for Southend, he co-owns a business with J**n T**ry so it's a no from me.
What I cant understand is if we didn't have the money to by Shankland from DU why did we spend months watching him, totally bizarre, and from what I have seen of him would have been a fantastic addition. Is it just another case of messing up a transfer or were scouts just bored?
The last paragraph on the Official does say discussions will continue as they look to extend their deals further.
I quite like the look of this lot Free Agents Gk – Jared Thompson, Gabriel Rosario, George Legg, Harry Campbell, Ted Smith, Curtis Anderson, Geoffrey Jourdren, Ben Alnwick, Emiliano Vivano, Corey Addai, Joe McDonnell
He played for the U23's in our 3-2 win over Watford think it was this week. Oteh scored 2. Think he's played for Denmarks age restricted teams and he's 6ft 2, but has had lots of injury problems. Danes have ben teaching their kids the right way to play football for many years, so I have some hopes with this fella. .
Sir Les was in Tallaght Stadium last night watching Shamrock Rovers v Cork City could have been checking on Dalling who is on loan to City (was sent off on stroke of half time for dangerous tackle) but would have been impressed by Rovers striker Graham Burke who scored 5 last night and midfielder Jack Byrne who scored 1 and made 3 . Both have been in Irish senior squads of late
