I've got a feeling we're stuck with him till the end of the season so we know which league in next season.

He did say that 500k was being spent on setting up a scouting network, shortly after the loan was made available. Do you doubt that is true?

It's theoretically possible but very, very unlikely because both parties would likely not want it. The acquiring party would have to buy Madrox and be happy that FPP had a charge that they could exercise and loan agreement rights that we're not privy to, but almost certainly allow them to do more in future at their discretion.

And on the other side, as much as people like to dismiss the idea out of hand, FPP did to some degree need to buy into SD's vision for the club for their investment to progress as they'd like. They'd almost certainly not agree to the same deal with different partners, at least not without an extensive evaluation process.

No I think it's true, I just don't think it's as simple as 'we paid £500k out up front'. I think it's more likely they budgeted an extra £500k for the financial year and increased staff accordingly. I suspect as we are due to make a profit, that's something our current profit and loss can cover this year, next year (with new owners) it's £500k extra someone else has to find on top of the loss we're projected to make.

People seem to have bought into the notion that we have no cash in the bank, but I don't think that's likely as we had a parachute payment due this season. It's next year that was the problem for Donald without FPP.

No mate, I was banned for 3 months by Pancho for 'making homophobic posts' ....

    ... absolute nonsense.

Even if I was a rampant homophobe there's no way I'd be stupid enough to post homophobic comments.

After the three months I went back on, to ask him what these comments were, and was almost immediately banned despite taking care to be polite, reasonable and honest.

You have to remember this is the Mod who set up an account on here to stalk me and threaten me with legal action from the club <laugh>

Really. He borrowed £9m and put it to one side ? Why borrow it in the first place.
He is a wealthy business man who is happy to manage debt
Regardless of what he says like any business he has used the assets to generate money to spend on the running of the business
I would say it's being used for the day to day running of the club.
This saves SD forking out his own money and I'm sure he is hoping to account for this £9m loan to Madrox in any future sale

There's a well known phrase that Donald will be well aware of,
"There's no such thing as a free lunch."

If, as some people are claiming, Donald has borrowed money he doesn't need, and incurred charges/interest, which he'll soon pay back ...

... it makes you wonder what kind of businessman he is.

If, as has been suggested, he's spent only 500k it's possible that it'll cost him as much in interest ...

... not even Wonga charged that much <laugh>

Because FPP offered to do a deal based on a loan, which would ascertain his management ability. He saw it as a way to eventually sell the club to a huge company and profit more than he could elsewhere. I do think, as I said, that the loan would be used over the next 12-18 months, but the idea that he'd spent £9m in less than a month is very far-fetched.

Day to day running of a football club that is making a profit this season doesn't cost anything.

I doubt very much that the interest terms were onerous, but we've had this convo a few times so no need to bang on. I suspect he made enough from the post-Brexit currency shift to cover any interest and/or charges for repayment, not that I think a loan of this type would have incurred much of either.

You need to read posts not make assumptions to fit your sound bites.
I didn't say he had spent £9m in a month
I said that in my opinion it was being used for the day to day running of the club
That's my opinion. Your opinion is he took the loan and is sitting on it
    Time will tell

I remember that happening - I also remember him talking about being pulled as a Mod on RTG, but I can't remember him losing his Mod status over there.

I have never understood what RTG hope to achieve by their moderation policy (if they do have one and don't just flip a coin). They have been told endless times by numerous posters (me included) that it is better to take a screenshot and show people what they are being warned or banned for so posters can avoid doing that again. It is almost as if they enjoy unaccountable and arbitrary use of power on a personal level in support of their own agenda and on behalf of their own clique.

RTG has been ruined by Mods and is but a shadow of what it used to be.

I've had a big misunderstanding with @Smug in Boots on here, but he has always been clear to identify what is a genuine ITK tip-off, what is his opinion based around said tip-offs and what is his own prognostication based on his own supposition about what appears to be going on.

I genuinely am mystified by people who accuse Smug of being a narcissist, of lying or changing his story because I have never seen anything of the sort. It is no wonder he gets all defensive and jumps down certain poster's throat!

I appreciate Smug keeping us updated with details of the, ahem, investment-cum-takeover, but I am truely bemused by the whole shebang!

Quite possible as long as the price reflected the fact that the loan existed

There is supply chain panic right now - I can assure you! The virus coinciding with the Chinese New Year shutdown is equally as bad for the supply chain as it is for controlling the spread of it.
