Bang on mate. Considering they were VERY close to buying Newcastle, given they'll have known all about their abuse & attacks on Ashley and various other issues, do you really think a hashtag from a section of our fanbase would scare them off?!
I mean to you or whoever else they or their pals talk to. I don't understand how it can be so ambiguous even in the back channels. Them 'still being around', as you say, or Nixon saying they 'don't want to be in an auction to buy it' could both imply anything all the way from 'nothing has changed and they have no interest in owning the majority' to 'they always wanted the majority, Donald is being unreasonable, and they refuse to get into a bidding war for us on principle' But even if the truth is somewhere in the middle, nothing we're hearing implies any progress at all from FPP if they're still at the apparent stalemate they were in before the loan was done.
We worked for a billionaire Jewish fella in Gordes, south of France. The house was magnificent and they'd fly down for a few weeks a year, their own plane obviously. The lady called Mrs Smug into the office one day 'for a chat'. It appeared that on 8 days, during a 10 day visit, there was a baguette left uneaten at the end of the day!
I'm not desperate to find the negatives. In fact on SMB I've been one of the few to find positives in SOME of SD’s time at the club thus far when everyone else is just posting absolute spiteful ****e with no understanding whatsoever of how businesses and leadership works and the time it can take to turn things around ( they messed up a few things as well BTW) I think the club is now in an excellent position for someone or some group to take over and move forward. The costs have been stripped out and targeted investment now would easily get rewards back. But I firmly believe that the recent campaign would not endear me to the club if I was a neutral looking into it. To them, it might look like the fans are ungrateful after SD etc have put so much time and effort into 'saving' the club. (They might not give a **** admittedly)
What charges though? Like I said, within a month of him getting that cash, the amount he needed to pay back went down by about £250k because the value of the pound rose.
They don't have to issue any statement and I wouldn't expect them to. Any statement they release reduces their bargaining point. If it was me, I'd be happy sitting back watching the cluster **** that SD and Co have created, yes it may mean one more year in league one, but imagine the PR generated by taking over after a second failed promotion, 6 months plus of dispute with the fans etc, the club at its lowest ebb and saying "right I'm the new man, you have suffered enough, we are going back to where we believe we belong and we will get there as quick as possible"
My thinking is that he is trying his upmost to make it until the end of the season, banking on everything that we go up.....If we don't I think he won't be able to sustain another year in League One.
My point was that, if he didn't really need it why take it and publicise it .... ... and I don't believe the state of the pound was in Donald's mind when he stuck his hand out. If he, Methven and Sartori don't have £10 million between them they're even bigger chancers than I believed.
Dunno, some might see the potential of what is a big challenge, but could be very lucrative, pretty sure they'll have a fair idea of what it's like when the ground is rocking.
This is the real answer as far as 'day to day' goes. The way it was forecast to work from their pov in June was that we'd make a £5m profit this season and lose £5m next season if we were still in League One, but because of SCMP, that would not be as simple as balancing the books, we would have issues next season if new money wasn't in and the wage bill wasn't lowerd. They said that quite openly and said they had to find a way to balance the books. It seems like at some point they've realised that in doing that, they'd have to pretty much get rid of any players capable of dragging us up the division and run us on a shoestring, so they got more cash in to run us at this level and maybe make a few key improvements. But of that £10m, I doubt they have spent anything even remotely substantial yet. The amounts spent in January don't appear to be anything the club couldn't have paid out in the short term from the operating budget.
In which case I apologise to Zidane. I'm just sick of people rubbishing anything positive and am becoming short tempered ... ... that's not like me and I'm sorry if I'm being curt.
"The amounts spent in January don't appear to be anything the club couldn't have paid out in the short term from the operating budget." So, seriously, why bother taking the money?
With all due respect mate, you replied to a post about our 47000 seater stadium and how under the corect leadership, we could fill it.
He said, it kept FPP at the table. Of course the pound wasn't in his mind, I just mean that even if there were charges (and my personal belief is in this deal there would be very little if any in terms of interest or charges, simply enough to cover costs and admin) then he won't be worried about them.
It's a little annoying when the income from the 30,000 ticket buying, beer guzzling, merchandise wearing supporters ... ... is dismissed as irrelevant. Yet a league one team like Shrewsbury has been 'saved' by the crowd at Anfield in a cup match. The income from our support is massive FFS
Fair enough mate. For what it’s worth I think RTG is full of people like that. That’s why I came over here. Fingers crossed we get the result we all want.
That's nonsense tbh, you don't bribe people like them by borrowing money off them. If they want to be at the table they will, if they don't they won't.
Except they don't appear to want to be in the limelight as such. I'm no expert on their international portfolio admittedly, but they seem to prefer a back seat approach. If they were to takeover, I could see them them employing someone who loves being in the limelight as CEO I did think it was unusual of you which is why I didn't launch a volley back. Apology accepted!
Or on the other hand they could’ve been rubbing their hands because of the fans putting pressure on him.
