It'll be interesting to see what we do with the starting 11 on Tuesday. Changes will be needed, you can't expect players to put in a full 90 on Saturday and again on Tuesday. Scowen is genuinely tiny but I'd expect him, Semenyo, Watmore, Ozturk and Lafferty to start. If Parky starts the same 11 he's pushing them too hard.
Dont get the hype with watmore. He has promised much and delivered the square root of feck all. Yes he can run fast and tries very hard. But he plays with his head down runs into blind alleys and cant shoot. Then his injury record?? Nice lad etc etc but he needs peddling Agree with semenenyo
For a short while we were starting games really well and banging in goals. Lately we are in the habit of having a very poor 1st half and playing better 2nd half. I doubt I was the only one saying yesterday get in 0-0 at half time and we had to improve 2nd half. So we did. However scoring goals is never easy and if you are really only playing half a game, you are halving your chances of scoring. The choice of Gooch and Watmore is tricky. Gooch yesterday had one moment of brilliance that so easily could have been a goal, but frankly was well below par for nearly all the game.. goals are precious, but he is not quick enough to be a winger. Watmore on the other hand has not been scoring goals, but he is quick and a genuine winger.. and is involved more in the game, gives the team an out rather than just lumping it up to a big man up front. I had been chatting with the guy next to me wondering if Parky would try 2 big men up front.. Maguire behind and two wing-backs..sort of worked did it not. On Tuesday night Parky must freshen the team up!
I would like to see Watmore come in for the last of these 3 games in quick succession. Tired legs against him will be an advantage for us. If he remembers what to do with the round thing once he gets past them.
I wouldn't start Watmore, he's not shown enough when he's came on to warrant it. Better off coming on later when teams tire. The other 2 I'd agree with. Semenyo just to liven things up,up front.
I trust in Parkinson, he sees them everyday in training. Whilst praising the first team, he keeps mentioning the lads that aren’t playing and saying how well they’re pushing the team. I would expect changes to a couple of the players. Would be nice to see some of the new boys play a part.
Nonsense, he's not going to change this team unless he has one or two knocks and doesn't want to risk them and he'd be daft to. They won't be training much today or tomorrow and they'll be getting fed the right food and given the right amount of training to help recovery. They shouldn't have any issues playing another game 3 days after the previous and it's not as if we are playing games every single midweek
When you've got three games in seven days it's hardly nonsense to suggest resting players for the middle game, especially when it's Saturday to Tuesday, not Wednesday. Remember the Portsmouth game which was a few days after the Tranmere game? I'm sure they were looked after between those games but it didn't stop them looking lethargic and losing the game.
I don’t think there will be many changes. Midfield scowen coming in for Dobson or Power. Wouldn’t drop Gooch has the potential for a goal. Back 3 leave alone. I think Wyke is doing ok holding play up so would leave him. Using the subs a little earlier would help those players playing regularly.
The Manager and coaching staff as well as the players will know if they are in need of a rest , it’s not that long since we were playing Friday , Saturday , Monday at Easter . They are Sportsmen/ Athletes and if they feel OK leave the team alone as we have benefitted from having a settled side for the first time in what seems years , use substitutes if required , trust in Parky he knows what is needed .
Each to their own but for me it's time to make some changes and rest players. Obviously if they really don't need it there's no need to but as I said they might have felt fine for the Portsmouth game but they looked leggy all game. It's not like we haven't got a good squad of players to call on, we can make changes and still play the exact same system.
Btw @Bigmackem I think Parky will agree with you and he'll stick to as much the same team as possible, it's just what I'd do. He seems intent on creating a team of elite super athletes haha and fair play to him.
I would hope that they are honest about how they are feeling , if they are left out some of them would not be happy , players like to play all of the time .
I don't think they'd be upset about not playing if they knew they were first choice but were being rested, totally different to being dropped for not performing.
They looked leggy in the first half yesterday too, they were second to every ball. The MK Dons performance was much like yesterday (Jeckyl and Hyde). If we're consistently not operating at 100% for 90 minutes, then imo it's a sign that we need to freshen it up, and we now have the depth in the squad to be able to do it. As someone has already mentioned, introducing the subs earlier is also an option.
Yeah I know we're still winning on the whole but the lads look tired to me and it's probably the midweek games. If they never get a decent break the fatigue accumulates slowly but surely which isn't what we need going into the business end of the season. Some of the new lads look good and have come with glowing commendations why not give them a chance.
Whilst agreeing with you I cannot see him making that many changes. Maybe Semanyo & Lafferty for Wyke n Maguire or Gooch. I would like Scowen to start purely to give Dobbo a rest.
