Yep, it was a strangely lethargic effort today from the whole team...West Ham looked like they wanted it more.
There's certainly no question that we'd have had a better chance with a full XI. But I'd still have favoured West Ham with their direct strategy. What we really wanted was Lanzini, Anderson, Wilshere etc trying to play pretty football. Antonio and Haller bullying us was as predicable as Rickie scoring a penalty.
yeah, but our attitude seems to have changed, raising our game for Liverpool is one thing, but keeping it at the same level against you is a different matter.
this is another thing about being “safe” now, can see us being like this for majority of the rest of the season.
Is anyone else irrationally bothered just as much by the fact its 2020 and we're still losing to teams with Mark Noble in as by the game itself?
Difficult to congratulate the opposition when it feels like we just played into their hands again. If we play well and have some reasonable tactics against such a team and they still play well and win then fair enough. Ralph doesn't know how to play against physical sides who like long balls and in an attempt to do so went with a weird ass team selection again. It's a bad combination to have 66% of posession whilst also attempting to be setup to hit a team on the break. Why do you have two RBs on the bench and none in the team? If neither are fit enough to play the 90, start one and have the other on the bench. And then if worst comes to worst you have JWP that can be moved there. Then you can play JWP in the middle where he will have more of an impact on the game. But then if you insist on playing JWP at RB despite having two on the bench, why do you then play Smallbone in midfield who is lightweight and inexperienced. This was a very different proposition from a home game vs Villa. You ideally play JWP in his position and if not, Romeu comes in. We might have lost anyway, but at least don't hand it to them with janky lineup and tactics. I love Ralph but he doesn't half make some weird decisions sometimes. Also typical that the only person that I work with that is interested in football is a bloody West Ham fan and one that regularly refers to them as the greatest team in the world, and world cup winners
I am flabbergasted that there is still a fear of relegation on here. Even taking off my positivity cloak, you need to be the most pessimistic person on the planet to have a real fear of relegation......
Well yeah if people want to say we aren't safe until it's mathematical then yeah we're not safe yet. We really are as good as though. We're not gonna go without a win for the rest of the season.
