No I don't think SH means it in a mercenary way. Any action by individuals, organisations or government will have a financial impact and disruption so any such action must be measured against this and reflect the current circumstances and be prepared to react as they change.

The state has a fundamental responsibility to protect its people Scully whatever the cost may be.

When any of us were younger there were many things that medical science had not discovered. Since we have known about them countries have spent huge sums in developing them and saving many lives. I remember too well my neighbour in Bushey slowly becoming more and more of a skeleton as she slowly died from cancer. It was a horrible experience that has never gone away. If we don't want to spend the money because it might increase our tax bill, let us at least be honest about it. If we put the financial well being of a football club above the health of fans, then that goes against the whole idea of having a society that works for the good of all, not the few.

There has been very little criticism of the UK government's handling of the coronavirus by all responsible politicians so far. They realise this is not the time for silly party political games.

There has maybe little criticism from within Westminster, but there has been plenty of questions asked about the response of the government from many well informed observers. It is a desperate situation for politicians in many countries, and I see little evidence of party scoring. If you watched any of the debate tonight there was a lot of questions about the virus spreading within Westminster. Talk about being worried for their own well being. When the WHO is critical should we simply say that they are not as well informed as the UK government? No, you listen, look at what you are doing, and try to improve unless you think they have got it wrong.

From a young researcher who had been transferred from Shenzhen to Wuhan to collaborate with the task force that is fighting the coronavirus epidemic, we receive and willingly transmit to all of this clear, simple and accessible information, which describe exactly what it is. the virus, how it transfers from one person to another and how it can be neutralized in everyday life.

Corona virus infection does not cause a cold with a dripping nose or catarrhal cough, but a dry and dry cough: this is the easiest thing to know.

The virus does not resist heat and dies if exposed to temperatures of 26-27 degrees: therefore often consume hot drinks such as tea, herbal tea and broth during the day, or simply hot water: hot liquids neutralize the virus and it is not difficult to drink them. Avoid drinking ice water or eating ice cubes or snow for those in the mountains (children)!

For those who can do it, expose yourself to the sun!

    1. The virus crown is quite large (diameter about 400-500 nanometers), therefore any type of mask can stop it: in normal life, special masks are not needed.

On the other hand, the situation is different for doctors and health professionals who are exposed to heavy virus loads and have to use special equipment.

If an infected person sneezes in front of you, three meters away they will drop the virus on the ground and prevent it from landing on you.

    2. When the virus is found on metal surfaces, it survives for about 12 hours. So when you touch metal surfaces such as handles, doors, appliances, supports on trams, etc., wash your hands well and disinfect them carefully.

    3. The virus can live nested in clothes and fabrics for about 6/12 hours: normal detergents can kill it. For clothes that cannot be washed every day, if you can expose them to the sun and the virus will die.

    How it manifests itself:

    1. The virus first installs itself in the throat, causing inflammation and a dry throat sensation: this symptom can last for 3/4 days.

    2. the virus travels through the humidity present in the airways, descends into the trachea and installs in the lung, causing pneumonia. This step takes about 5/6 days.

    3. Pneumonia occurs with high fever and difficulty breathing, it is not accompanied by the classic cold. But you may have the feeling of drowning. In this case, contact your doctor immediately.

    How can you avoid it:

    1. Virus transmission occurs mostly by direct contact, touching tissues or materials on which the virus is present: washing hands frequently is essential.

The virus only survives on your hands for about ten minutes, but in ten minutes many things can happen: rub your eyes or scratch your nose for example, and allow the virus to enter your throat ...

So, for your own good and for the good of others, wash your hands very often and disinfect them!

    2. You can gargle with a disinfectant solution that eliminates or minimizes the amount of virus that could enter your throat: in doing so, you eliminate it before it goes down into the trachea and then into the lungs.

    3. disinfect the PC keyboard and mobile phones

The new coronavirus NCP * may not show signs of infection for many days, * before which it cannot be known if a person is infected. But by the time you have a fever and / or cough and go to the hospital, your lungs are usually already in 50% fibrosis and it's too late!

Taiwanese experts suggest doing a simple check that we can do on our own every morning:

Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds. If you successfully complete it without coughing, without discomfort, a sense of oppression, etc., this shows that there is no fibrosis in the lungs, indicating essentially no infection.

In such critical times, do this check every morning in a clean air environment!

These are serious and excellent advice from Japanese doctors who treat COVID-19 cases. Everyone should make sure that their mouth and throat are moist, never DRY. Drink a few sips of water at least every 15 minutes. WHY? Even if the virus gets into your mouth ... water or other liquids will sweep it away through the esophagus and into the stomach. Once in the belly ... Gastric acid in the stomach will kill all the virus. If you don't drink enough water more regularly ... the virus can get into your trumpets and lungs. It is very dangerous.

Share this information with your family, friends and acquaintances, for * solidarity and civic sense * !!!!

The data is clearly not finalised, hence the disparities, I agree. The rest of my information comes from the UK’s top virologists in this field, Prof. John Oxford of Queen Mary’s, Uni of London, and Prof. Neil Ferguson of Imperial, as on the Today Programme.

'One in twenty will need intensive care.. Much nastier disease than seasonal flu'

    It also is very infectious....

I see Trump has now banned all flights from Europe, but not UK.. Yet

I for one am now seriously considering not traveling to the match on Saturday. Five trains concerns me more than being at the match itself...

As you are resident in Euroland you should be more concerned about the total lack of effort from the EU leaders. There is an appalling number of deaths within your Schengen area without any leadership from the top. All we hear is member countries squabbling over supplies of masks etc. Italy is very critical of the lack of assistance from its fellow members.

The US has now recognised the severity of the pandemic in mainland Europe by banning all travel from that area. Less affected areas such as the UK and Ireland are so far unaffected by the ban.

There is every chance the government will announce a ban on large gatherings soon, maybe after this afternoon's Cobra meeting.

Forget the experts Yorkie - read what Charles Dickens had to say ! When a person sneezes the infected droplets travel much further in a cold dry atmosphere. When the weather is warm then the air is, automatically, more humid - particles and droplets become heavy and saturated when the air is moist and fall to the ground much quicker than when it is cold. According to Dickens the courtrooms of the 18th and 19th Centuries were dangerous places to be because of the germs which prisoners brought into court - in one case the judge died before the prisoner who he had sentenced to death ! The solution was that they used sprays in court to make the air more moist - so the next time somebody sneezes in front of you squirt them in the face with warmish water quickly !

I agree and I think the government will be well aware of this.

With respect for football stadiums there is no legislation for stupidity - these measures only work if the population understands why they are being imposed and reactes accordingly. Last night PSG played Borussia Dortmund in front of any empty stadium - the result was that thousands were stood outside, and many other thousands were watching at informal gatherings throughout the city. In Germany the Bundesliga will be played out behind closed doors - but there will be no live TV coverage either in order to prevent this type of scenario. At times like this systems like China have an advantage - if the government brings in a quarantine for whole towns, and bans gatherings then the people have to cooperate.

This spam has been doing the rounds on social media for over a week now. There is no proof it is from a real source or is true. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I will stick to the official NHS site specific page for the virus and other official channels.

It looks like the UK will follow this. It is obvious this years football season should become null and void. Failing this the season should end now with the present bottom three teams being relegated, sounds fair to me. :emoticon-0105-wink:

The latest from Donald Trump - apparently he is sick of the so called expert comments from the WHO. They are not suitable to be making comments about health - they were never very good as a group and the Rolling Stones had them beat (beaten <doh>) by a mile !
