sorry to say it ( but I said it a month ago on FPP thread) but we're not good enough to go up with this squad. The teams that were around us are now in a better position than us, with games in hand and lot more determination to win games than we are showing. We've gone badly off the boil in recent games, just when the season is getting to the nitty gritty stage. I'm afraid we've been found wanting, and although its still a possibility, I can't see us regaining the ground we've lost with so few games to go. I'd be amazed if we got into top 2, and really surprised if we reach the playoffs ( although I've booked a Wembley hotel in blind faith). Looking back over this season, it really has been a bit of a pantomime, with so much going on around the periphery of the football. Stewart Donald needs to take responsibility for what happened this season, and sort the future of the club early in the summer, or sell up and **** off sharpish to give his successor(s) a chance.

At the moment we have lost a bit of momentum.....a few weeks ago we were going to win the Champions League. At this time steady heads are required. This is going to go right down to the wire, and if we go up via the play offs I don't give a flying f*ck. We have a good enough team to do it...maybe we just need that spark of inspiration when all seems lost. The biggest thing we have going for us....is us...the fans. Maybe we have to get this team over line by giving our all in attendance and encouragement. It can be done.....now it's all hearts and minds. Never had time for the woe is me crowd....faint hearts win f*ck all. Ha way the lads....the Championship is there for us if we want it badly enough.

I always find it weird when the first thing people say about sportsmen in defeat is that they "bottled it". Usually it's several other factors and their courage shouldn't really be in question. Most footballers have faced rejection dozens of times by various clubs, lost many games, most likely either been relegated or missed out on promotion. They've already experienced it.

Now I've realised that the people who say such things are seeing it from their own viewpoints. It seems like some of our so called fans are the ones "bottling it".

Why on earth would anyone be giving up or expressing doubts just as we go into the crucial part of the season?

On any given match day, our team can beat the team we're facing. That's 8 more opportunities for maximum points. So instead of doubting them, try getting behind them more than we ever have in our lives and see if we can push them over the line.

The time to judge, question or criticise is the end of the season now.

I’ve heard that speech a few times usually always ends the same though.

Why do you think we've resorted to lumping it forwards in a panic if it's not nerves getting to them?

Could be tiredness. Both mental and physical. It's easier to just give it a whack than it is to think about playing sensible balls through the thirds. I reckon nerves probably does play a part in it to some extent but I also don't think that professional players would have thrown in the towel at this point yet.

On a different theme, if we don't go up this season, blaming individuals isn't the right thing to do. It won't be Parkinson's fault, it won't be Donald's fault, it won't be the fault of any of the players. It will be a collective thing. The club/first team as whole won't have been good enough.

I'd agree it was tiredness if it was late in the game as they are definitely getting fatigued but we're starting games in a mild panic now and seem to have thrown football out of the window. It may well come back but I do think it's nerves that's the problem atm.

Agreed on your second point, as far as I'm concerned everyone's giving it their best effort from Donald to Hume so I personally won't be going after anyone in particular. Lots will though. The football atm is disappointing but you can't just tell something not to be nervous unfortunately.
