... messed up by the RAF. I was going to post this ages ago but thought I was overreacting ... ... but ffs, give it a rest you pompous tossers. I'm sick of these patronising RAF adverts suggesting hillbillies from Carlisle, Blyth or some other northern backwater can only make something of themselves by being subjected to training from the forces. There are plenty of people, like Eddie Stobart, who've managed quite well without brainswashed by the forces. How come they don't say 'I was born in Tunbridge Wells and would've been a worthless druggie if it hadn't been for the RAF teaching me how to use a socket set.' What a bunch of pompous tossers.
Smug. Its probably because traditionally the North has been a good feeder area for the armed forces. I agree 100% with your comments though, I find the adverts condescending
That's my problem with the 'forces' adverts whichever service it is .... ... as if you're some kind of waster if you stay in your home town. I don't like the whole idea of simply 'being born' somewhere but 'made' by leaving behind your friends, family and birthplace. In my opinion those things are much more important than anything you'll find in the forces.
