The toe rag is at it again!

Sir Philip Green's Arcadia retail group, which includes Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, and Miss Selfrige, said on Friday it was closing all its stores.

The company said it would focus on its digital and social platforms. Staff were to remain employees and receive their full pay for March, but it was not clear what would happen with staffing beyond then.

Any excuse is fine by the rat and to say "it's not clear what would happen with staffing beyond the end of March" is clearly not true - the decision has, obviously, already been made to go 'on-line' only!

I'm a great believer in capitalism but this odious individual just gives it a bad name.

No one on this side of the fence expects any other. As you will well know a lot of your party members will think this is the way to make everyone better off and defend his actions, a few on this morning were doing just that and are shocked and dismayed that the Government are being forced into "Nationalisation" as the call it.

Green is an absolute c*nt. That gobshite Tim Martin isn't much better, arguing in the face of experts about pubs staying open when we all know he's only concerned with his bottom line.

I, genuinely, don't understand the seeming current disdain for Tim Martin who has made his money by providing a quality product at very sensible prices.

Green, on the other hand, is nothing more than a sexual predator & a charlatan who's prepared to 'rip off' pension funds to fund his own lifestyle.

Coming out all over the news on Friday saying that Wetherspoons will not be closing and that "Coronavirus doesn't spread in pubs" is very distasteful in my view. His company made £57m profit last year but he's still more concerned about his own cash flow than the welfare of his customers.

I hadn't heard that but I did read a thread on RTG in which Wetherspoons (not Martin) was being portrayed as the root of all evil for no apparent reason.

This was before he said what you referred to and just shows how many idiots there are on there, all wanting the approval of other retards in their group.

One posts nonsense, their alter ego supports it then the rest of the clique (and their 'alters') join in and you have a lengthy thread with them all singing from the same hymn sheet

For some reason, Wetherspoons (not Martin) seems to be the current victim of their ire.

Coming back to your statement, the article below relates to it, but his viewpoint seems perfectly reasonable to me, even if you disagree with it.

    https://www.theguardian.com/busines...ys-uk-pubs-will-stay-open-as-long-as-possible

For you, to then class him alongside the scumbag Green, to me, was beyond just ridiculous!!!

Also worth a read is the way he avoids the majority of his personal and corporate UK tax liabilities by channelling these through his wife, who is now an official resident of Monaco!.

    Correct!!

Also, he's reportedly paid the complainants millions in out of court settlements.

The similarities between him and Weinstein are quite marked.

Indeed, at the risk of upsettig @Sid, I found this on the BBC website today.

It couldn't happen to a nicer fellow and I hope PG is next!

Knighthoods, anybody accepting such meaningless arbitrary "honours" are imo as culpable as those bestowing them. I have never addressed anyone as Sir and never will.

Probably pre secondary modern, but hardly any contact after that, other than the wrong end of a cane. <laugh>

Wetherspoon has been recognised by the Top Employers Institute as a ‘Top Employer United Kingdom’ for 16 consecutive years, including 2019.

    https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/investors-home/bsr/people

I think to compare Martin with a tax dodging, sexual predator who cares nothing for his staff is, quite frankly, pathetic!

He may not be a superhero, but if you read the article in full, he seems to generally look after his 45,000 employees quite well.

The rabid protestations of a few tin pot union members won't change my mind about that.
