Here's a couple of things to do with lax control of contamination...

I popped into my local Sainsbury's for a few items, at the self checkout there were spaces marked with tape on the floor but certainly not 2 metres. At the till one person coughed into his hand and carried on scanning and then touched the screen several times before leaving. I asked the supervisor where is the sanitiser and who cleans the screens? She just shrugged her shoulders and said there isn't any. There must be 30 customers an hour going through each of the 8 screens. F*cking unbelieveable...

A friend of my daughter's works in admin at a hospital in Sidcup, she says there is an isolation ward there for virus patients but the staff share canteen facilities with other hospital staff and often take ready meals in to microwave etc. Anyone who works in places like these knows how lax washing up crockery etc can be and it's no different there. She says everyone is on edge and as she has previous ward experience she has not been allowed to work from home like others there in admin, she's dreading being pulled in if the surge comes as expected...

I can only say regards to the touch screens is you need to wash/gel your hands before you go in to a shop and wash/gel when you leave. I believe (and i'm no doctor) that as long as you don't touch mouth/nose/eyes you should be okay... unless it's gone airborne then we're are all 2222ed.

What professor? Nobody has predicted 20k deaths, the Chief Scientific Officer said it would be a ‘good’ outcome. It it’s him that’s now saying a lower total could be possible, great. As far as I can tell it won’t be for another two weeks that we have any evidence that efforts to delay the spread have had any impact.

Somebody has posted a thread on LinkedIn to track what he claims are companies acting badly. However it turns out that a number in his list are there through misinformation
I'm not saying that is the case with Spoons but the mob mentality and hysteria that tends to take over means that frequently no one bothers to actually check the facts
There will also be some businesses that unless they effectively go into hibernation for a period simply won't be able to restart trading once this nightmare is over

Oi Sb I was only passing on the information as I watched it live. He said they have been looking at data models and It looks better than what they first thought. He said if we listen to the guidelines the NHS would be able to cope. He also said his first (prediction... or whatever) may also be wrong and would be less. When they show again I will get the story and post.

I think it can take 2 weeks to incubate. He could still be quite ill. Linda Lusardi (remember her?) has been at death's door apparently.

Just back from my food bank deliveries and feeling good I was actually some use on my days off.
I’d urge anyone on here to do it......it’s piss easy and a great way of helping out the more vulnerable of society.

One of the challenges with this situation is too many different sources of information. This is Oxford University saying our model says something different to the Imperial model. Who does the layman believe? The government is following the Imperial model, the one which is more pessimistic. I think it makes sense to plan for the worse and communicate to the public on that basis.

This Oxford model requires testing to validate it (as does the Imperial one probably) but what has happened in Italy supports Imperial rather than Oxford.

Optimism is great but not when it generates what might be a false sense of security.

    Sad news from my area.
Last night a few locals were on Facebook saying a 21 year old friend/relative had died. I didn't post as you never know with FB.
Anyway just confirmed on SkyNews that 21 Chloe Middleton passed away from Coronavirus. She had no underling health problems. <rose>
