Both of us were warning from the start about the dangers which would follow from the overwhelming of the hospitals resources some of which will only show up in a few years when the deferred treatments lead to much worse outcomes for the patients. I have to say i always assumed that the virus would be rampant inside hospitals and like you have been doing my best to ensure i don't need treatment for any reason .

Depends where you live mate probably. London has an excellent public transport network, but it’s already expensive. The easier you make it for people to get about on trains and buses, the less they use their cars.

The roads are full as well though, mostly with Uber drivers as far as I can see. And Uber are dirt cheap because their drivers earn well below minimum wage.

A Saturday night and just too late to make the Sunday papers, probably.

The Junior Minister for Tourism will be chosen to give us the news. He’ll wear a bland M&S suit.

Same here. That **** Beeching dug up all the regional train lines. The National spending on public transport infrastructure is obscenely skewed in favour of London and the SE and always has been.

  14. Exactly!

The dark powers that control our banking system (and, therefore, our Government) must be mightily pissed off that Society hasn’t crumbled, and that we’re all managing to sort ourselves out.

Apart from a couple of tramps getting tazered, the mandarins have had no excuse to send in the military, or further impinge on our liberties.

Expect the propaganda mouthpieces to up the ante with murmurs of bodies piling up in makeshift morgues.

There is no where near enough panic to justify the Government’s next phase in whatever it is that their paymasters have planned for us.

It's skewed in favour of London for sure and there is probably statistical evidence to say SE as well (I dont know I just cant be bothered to dig). But as someone who lives in rural SE and often spends time in the North, public transport is just as ****e down here as anywhere else in England. London is the overwhelming exception, SE just seems to get bundled in with it in conversation.

Southampton for example binned a very well developed tram system in the mid 50s and dug it all up on the basis that buses and trains could do the job. Fast forward to the 2010's and the village I live in on the outskirts of the city (roughly 10 miles out) with a population circa 6000 people stopped having a bus service on Sunday full stop and the hourly weekday bus services ended at 7pm, this was the only form of public transport available as Beeching had our village station too.

(Counter - Sunday buses have been restored and things have slightly improved since, but its still pretty dire).

There seems to be a bit of consensus around that from different sources, but who knows? I can't remember where I heard it from now.
