    Sorry to hear about the tools Bob, there are some right schmucks out there.

    The situation is particularly bad in Palmero & Sicily. The mayor there is worried that the "Corona Poverty" will cause much more damage than the virus, and is something that the Mafia will be able to harness to their advantage. People are organising to loot supermarkets. This is further compounded by one of the ferry companies going bust who are responsible for the importation of a large % of foodstuffs.

    Sorry to hear about the burglary Bob, leaves you feeling sick in your stomach. Unlikely, but hope the police catch them...you never know.

    Also, quite pleased with my lockdown song actually, seems quite appropriate;

    It's going to get worse for the next two weeks, longer if they don't sort out the testing and PPE issues. I wonder who will be giving today's presser?...

    It’s a horrible total, but I think it’s exactly in line with what the virologists would predict. It would be great to know what the total numbers of deaths all causes yesterday were, then we can see how much over the average we are. If there are 600k deaths a year in the UK there would be 1650 deaths on a ‘normal’ day. If my calculator/ sums are ok, 600k /365 right?

    Yes, about 1650. I would think most of the 563 deaths are in addition, though there will be some deaths that are simply hastened by e.g. several months by the virus

    I wonder why we don't hear more about the numbers or the people that have recovered or taken off of ventilators?

    Well after having no ‘COVID possible’ calls on Monday night (3 elderly fallers, a couple of MH and a chest pain or 2) last night was a complete turnaround......every bloody one was ‘possible’ or ‘likely’, meaning we had to come off road after each call to clean down the truck, a right ball ache after the 5th occasion but necessary for sure....I’ve never seen it so spotless :).

    To make matters worse, one was a ‘blue call’ and because wearing my mask means my glasses steam up, in my rush I had thrown them on the drivers seat so I could actually see what i was doing.........Yep you guessed it, I forgot to pick them up before our drive to hospital and as my fat arse landed on top of them, the snap of them being broken filled my head with dread.......so now I have one arm held together by tape and the thought of having to get them sorted out after my last night on Thursday/Friday.........I hope tonight is better :(

    TBH mate I don't think it's a very good stat. The Governor of NY said yesterday not many come off the ventilators. Although I think thre were talking about a special unit. :emoticon-0101-sadsm Grim.

    ****ing good question. On that tracker website we have been stuck at 135 recoveries for weeks, obviously not being updated, or talked about for some reason, even though it’s good news, the number must be thousands. The original stats for ventilators is that only 50% make it.

    Also we need clarity about how deaths are being recorded. Typically if a patient with serious heart disease or end stage cancer is admitted to hospital with flu or another respiratory illness and subsequently dies, the cause of death is recorded as their primary illness - cancer or heart disease. Those who die with COVID 19 are all recorded as dying of it, not with it or from an underlying serious illness. There is no doubt that health services are under huge pressure but we need some clarity about how things are counted to help decide the best course of action.

    Wimbledon cancelled, which will gut all those residents of SW19 who clean up by renting their house out for a couple of weeks.

    Somebody from the fashion industry saying they are all geared up to make any clothing the NHS needs, but they are getting no direction from the government. I’m sure I heard something similar last week. Just like the ****ing ventilators, big announcements made, no ****ing follow up. Turning shambolic.

    Crap a doctor who came out of retirement to help the NHS has died of Coronavirus. :(
    He worked for 40 years in the NHS.
    His son said "he was a living legend".

    Totally agree with this. Unfortunately as I ve said before, we as a family have experienced ventilators before. We have all agreed that we wont (if ever needed) be put on one.
