    Monkey meat is eaten in Sub-Saharan Africa, the source of HIV. Forms of Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV) exist in chimpanzees, western lowland gorillas and species of monkeys in e.g. Cameroon and DR Congo. No one knows for certain how SIV was passed to a human and became HIV. Two theories are that a live hunted animal bit a hunter or that someone cut himself while butchering an animal. Both would allow the transmission of the virus by saliva or blood. (According to Wikipedia.)

    A 23-year-old man who spat at Lancashire police while saying he has COVID-19 has been jailed for a year.

    Morrisons trebles bonuses for frontline workers. From average £350 last year to £1050 this year. Bonus is guaranteed rather than performance related. Paid quarterly, with first payment this May, rather than waiting for payment at end of next year.

    Do you still have the graph from day of first death, with all those countries?

    Would be interesting to include Holland. They look to be following an equally alarming spike albeit a bit behind.

    I still find it odd how the figures for deaths bear no relationship to numbers tested or population. France-UK-Holland-Germany all on the same track, it may be that the numbers are too low to show a distinct trend in the first three weeks.

    Its funny how on the by date graph, it’s hard to picture Holland’s curve matching ours. But on the +10 it’s almost identical.

    The size of a country's population is irrelevant to the pace of outbreak. All countries start with one COVID case and it spreads from there, at a pace determined by what actions are taken.

    The population is only a cap on the number of people in a country that might get it. And it's useful to know when you want to assess your personal % chance of getting it. But in terms of rate of spread, it's immaterial.
