I'm not politically minded and generally live in my own little bubble to the point where I rarely even watch the news.

But, obviously, something like this virus has prompted me to take an interest in 'current affairs'.

The role of the country's Prime Minister is always important at times like this and I feel like ours is letting the country down tbh.

On BBC breakfast I keep seeing 'back kitchen' interviews with people in isolation, nurses speaking from home and various celebrities doing stuff.

With modern technology it's quite easy, even for ordinary people, to produce a decent quality clip with good sound, etc.

Yet Boris Johnson, supposedly in the heart of the capital, sticks a short clip on Twitter which not everyone uses, myself included.

The bloke's a shambles, looks just out of bed, and is just repeating the same thing over and over, an annoying habit of his.

He's not making much of an effort to be honest, hardly inspiring, Churchill, who he models himself on, had a heart attack during the second war and also serious pneumonia yet didn't allow that to sway him from providing great leadership. Johnson has a bit of a temperature.

In this bumbling clip all you can see is Johnson's face with no background ...

... cynics might wonder if he's actually in Downing Street at all.

    "Speak soon" <doh>

Some people have no time for him, Hank, and refuse to make allowances for him being ill . . . . with symptoms of a rather serious virus, and still want to discredit him whenever possible <doh>

He'll be itching to 'get back on his bike/podium' to lead us in this fight, but he'll not be allowed to until he's 100% :emoticon-0105-wink:

He's not though, his symptoms are mild as he's said himself.

Having a slightly high temperature doesn't stop him getting off his sofa, putting a tie on and looking interested.

He manages to make posting the clip look like an inconvenience.

I was quite impressed with him at the start of this crisis but that's fading fast.

I do have time for him but he's making himself look really sorry for himself at the moment.

There have been plenty of 'home interviews' with people suffering from the virus ...

... not one of them have looked as shambolic.

It seems some people will excuse him absolutely anything which is showing the same level of bias as you believe exists in other people.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect something better than a Twitter post when ordinary people are managing much better.

The virus is serious, Johnson's symptoms are mild ...

... yet he can't manage to sit up straight when he's addressing the nation.

It's not a terrible thing, just poor imo.

I've never been impressed with him or his cronies

They've given out mixed messages from day one

Wether owa the lockdown or to how many tests they can deliver

Or to the PPE for the NHS & other key workers but if people think this is strong leadership

    God help us

I'd find it hard to believe otherwise tbh. Loads of chinese folk rely on the wildlife farms and wet markets for scran and it was a practice that was actively encouraged by the Chinese Government. No way is that practice being stopped in a day like as you'd have a load of hungry Chinese lads and lasses. Glad I'm not the only person who wants to see us changing our relationship with them.

Right wing think tank the Henry Jackson society has claimed that China is liable to pay the UK, along with the other G7 nations, billions in compensation due to alleged underreporting of the scale of the coronavirus outbreak, amid growing calls from Tory MPs led by former deputy prime minister Damien Green for a reset in UK-China relations.

I've never been political active but I will be after this is over. Going to be onto my MP pushing for much less reliance on China. My attiitude is as self sufficient as possible and we can all play a part in that, even if it's as simple as not buying **** we don't need from there or trying to source the stuff we do need from somewhere else.

I live right on a nature reserve (Castle Eden dene). They shut the car park a couple of weeks ago, so people are driving there and parking up the road. Police are fining them now. I’ve never seen the dene so busy, people still don’t get the message <doh>

My problem is that there's been so little effort put into his 'statement to the nation'.

He can't even be bothered to put a tie on and look like a statesman.

I didn't watch the Queen's address but I bet she dug out a nice frock and looked interested.

Even Trump, who's an owld fella, has managed to comb his hair, which must take some doing at his age tbh.

Johnson seems to think that 'being a character' is all that's needed ...

... the Ian Holloway of politics.
