I've had a minimal amount of coffee at this point and it's way too early to start getting into the laws of probability.
Pochettino can't until June though. He has agreed not to sign for anyone until after 1st June and even then the rumours are a bit sketchy. One source says he doesn't want a project, another says he will join providing he can spend hundreds of millions. From what I gather negotiations haven't started with prospective managers yet. Until the takeover is officially announced, we can't really negotiate with players either.
There are many possible reasons why it hasn't happened. Us trying to guess what they are is a bit pointless.
What I would add is this - there are countless journalists who would kill for a chance to break a story saying the takeover has failed. Nobody has even come close to saying that, so I'd take the prolonged silence as a good sign.
These things always take time. It will take even longer now when a) were all working remotely b) the Premier League have a lot on their plate and c) the scrutiny on our potential owners. There will be activist groups, and organisations like Bein Sports that will look at this very closely. If there is a mistake on the way the legal tests have been done, the lawsuits will come. The Premier League aren't under any real time constraints so will take as long as they need. Like everyone has said, no news is good news.
Won't be today. Doubt it'll be this week, or even next week. There's really little need to rush. From a PIF perspective why would you? Why take on all the overheads when there's no way of making money? Why rush into it when there's no transfer window? If Poch is target #1, he's not even available for another 2 weeks. Fans want it to happen, I imagine Ashley wants it to happen, but the buyers are probably quite comfortable at the moment.
I doubt it. If there were problems, someone like Martin Hardy would have heard a sniff and stuck it all over the back pages. Look at it like this - one member of staff isn't on furlough. The chief scout. In the middle of a takeover. The clues are there, it just depends how you want to look at it.
Steve Nichol reckons Pochettino won't go anywhere near Newcastle unless he's guaranteed hundreds of millions to spend. There's also information out there which suggests we won't have hundreds of millions to spend, as the Saudis want us to be self sufficient. The plan which was rumoured a few weeks ago is to be in the champions league within 3 seasons, that doesn't sound like a plan which is going to be bankrolled.
Have you seen our squad? It's going to take several seasons of £200m a time to get to challenging for top 6. We may get a Pardew season if we are lucky.
Don't know what banks you work with. I can transfer my salary from a US$ account in Singapore to a Sterling account in UK at 10.00am in the morning and my Mrs will have started spending it by 2pm the same day. Admittedly its not 300million quid but as long as I have it in my account I can transfer as much as I want.
I disagree 200 million well spent could see us do well , however it could be badly spent and we tread water.
