Good Morning. It's Thursday 7th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. All remaining 200 games from top two tiers will be televised According to The Times, football fans will be able to watch almost all of the remaining 200 matches in the top-two tiers of English football should both divisions agree to complete their remaining fixtures. Scheduling officials for Sky, BT Sports, Amazon and Ifollow are aiming to show three and four Championship and Premier League matches daily at staggered kick-off times The aim is to have 'project restart' recommence early in June. Premier League Clubs are meeting on Monday 11th to discuss these plans. please log in to view this image Championship clubs call for 20m budget The Sun are reporting that a splinter group, made up of ‘perennial Championship teams’ took part in a video conference call last Friday to discuss a £20million total wage budget. Leeds United, West Brom, Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Brentford are among those excluded from the meeting. According to the daily tabloid, the 20m budget would be free to spend that how and when they like as long as they do not exceed the limit. As well as introducing a salary cap, the ten clubs involved discussed the financial implications the coronavirus is having on their clubs, and discussions a breakaway group. A source told SunSport: “A salary cap will suit some of the smaller teams in the Championship. “They will be the ones who generally feel they have reached the ceiling of their realistic expectations — teams who don’t tend to be pushing for promotion to the Premier League. “Other more notable teams wouldn’t want to sign up to a salary cap because they want to invest in trying to reach the top division. “As a result they were not included in the talks last Friday and won’t be either going forwards. please log in to view this image Should you be allowed to boo your team after a dire performance? Many die hard Leeds fans have questioned their loyalties over the last fifteen years. We've seen greedy owners trying to bleed the club dry, insolvency problems and regelation to the third tier of English football. Yet, we are still here today, in the sun, rain, and snow to support the boys in White! Performances on the field over the last decade and a half have been lets say inconsistent. Have you ever booed the team or selected player? How have others reacted to fans booing? Should you be allowed to? You've paid your money!!! Is booing your own team a sign of treason? please log in to view this image
Good morning, As bad as FFP is, I prefer the thinking behind it more than an out and out salary cap which just appeals to the lowest most unsuccessful clubs. The current FFP at least tells clubs that you can go out and spend, as long as you have the ability to bring in revenue as well. I know it's done terribly at the moment but it seems to be based on a fairer system to me. I've never booed the team as a whole. Maybe have a little moan if it's warranted. Nothing annoys me more than those who come to a game and spend all 90 minutes complaining, even when we're top of the league.
Morning all. I've never booed my team. If I've been pushed to the point where I would boo them I'm normally so angry I'm in stony silence.
I know the lass with the grey/pink shirt on with her 'all Leeds aren't we' scarf raised in the air & the fella with fair hair just below her in the photo taken behind the goal in the lower end of the kop
Morning All, It's a free society and whoever wants to boo their team should be allowed to do that. Equally those who boo should respect the rights of those who think that they have questionable parentage. I'm being so polite today, it is unbelievable, possibly an end of financial year sale.
Booing your team is acceptable. We have a right to show our displeasure as much as we show our delight. The important thing is that it stops there. It is too easy these days to abuse players, either face to face or on social media. Social media has given fans the ability to interact with players like never before and it is so good in so many ways. On the flipside we now have a direct line to tell players what we think of them or worse ie death threats and such. This ability to instantly put out there what you think is by no means a good thing. Imagine you've just watched your team lose. Be it fairly after a bad performance or by bad luck. Five years ago you would have muttered and moaned with your mates as you left the ground and walked home or to the pub. By the time you had a cup of tea or pint in your hand you'd had time to calm down and process more what you'd seen and your own thoughts. Chances are you wouldn't be wishing Bamford dead or hoping Liam Cooper broke his leg. Your certainly wouldn't be rushing to tell them. Everyone has a right to voice displeasure but how and how far are what's most important.
I'd love a salary cap but it has to be global. It has worked well in rugby league. It's far more competitive. Don't ask me how it would work. The wealth would be spread around a lot more equally. Booing the team. Can't remember doing it too much. The only time I will turn on my own team is if I think they could have tried harder. My only ask of a Leeds player is that they give everything they've got. If you're **** then you're **** but as long as you give 100% out there then I will applaud you off the pitch. If you walk back instead of running then I will call you out on it. It's why Bamford annoys me. He works like hell but can't finish. Beckford was the opposite, he would get 30 goals a season but wouldn't chase the full backs down.
I have never booed a player or the team during a game but I’ve made my feelings known at the final whistle, if a player or players don’t put in a shift they need telling and dropping from the team. Give 100% and they are loved and respected even if they are ****!!
Morning all. Been to Leeds Milwall games and not only booed their team but also booed their fans as well.
Agree with you Ringo, never during a game, not sure if I've booed after, maybe ? although I tend to walk out with so much anger I want to kill just before I would boo.
For me, Boo-ing is more of a communal activity that you join in with - & it's mostly directed at refs or the opposition. Can't actually remember the whole team getting boo-ed, apart from the end of a very few games where we've been seriously cuffed. Can't remember who exactly, but Florist & PNE spring to mind. What I am guilty of is shouting abuse. It's mostly directed at refs & linespeople for all the usual reasons. There are exceptions. From the moment I saw him try to play for Leeds, I absolutely hated Kilkenny. I don't believe I ever saw him tackle once, which is untenable for a central midfielder, imo. Yes, he was a 'creative' player. Sometimes. But not enough to make up for the midfield over-runs we conceded due to him being the biggest crapper I ever saw pull on a white shirt. I can just imagine Billy giving him a bit of half time 'encouragement'.
Mark Aizlewood I think after getting fan abuse by Leeds fans, finished his Leeds career Pritty much I think.
