I know he was quite odd, but for me Tutti Frutti might be the most important record in the history of pop music. A terrible loss.
The RIP thread is the wrong place for this discussion and musically I wouldn’t disagree, but it’s like Anarchy In The UK was for punk - there’s potentially better songs, but it’s a statement of intent that later songs could never be. (And the intention on the RIP thread is definitely not to debate whether I should have said New Rose)

Bloody hell - seems just like yesterday. Never forget, was in a bar on Corfu and they were showing the TV footage from the BBC that evening. It was amazing. Within 15 minutes the bar was empty - all the tourists had departed & gone back to their hotels, chalets in respect to the perished. Remarkable , but appropriate reaction. RIP the 56.
Girlfriend of Stuart Sutcliffe, whom she described as the love of her life and who died in her arms. Talented in her own write of course; she impressed the hard to impress John Lennon, but she will be forever remembered as a part of the early Beatles story. Although she never invented the moptop look. RIP Astrid.
