“No tackling” in training? No issue for us. We have not been practicing defending or corners for a while. Congratulations for our visionary anticipation of these new rules! Premier League: Restrictions in place for team training under 'Project Restart' http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52635005
What happens if one of the relegation candidates have two or three players go down with the virus? Surely they can't be fairly expected to play without key players? Brighton rightly voicing real concerns. This just has 'money' written all over it...
I guess the whole team / squad would need to go for a 14 day quarantine? It would only be a genuinely “safe” environment if the whole footballing community were “self isolating” from “the rest” during the playing period. Crazy times indeed!
I see 12th June as a possible “target date” to restart the Premiership. Are there any similar dates for the Championship?
Already very interesting polemics between the Premiership and Championship. Norwich against Premier League relegation if Championship season stops http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52645339
Should it really matter how the championship finishes If you get relegated from the premiership you get relegated Not finishing the championship should have no bearing on the premiership table We should finish the championship though
It is a bit of a logistics nightmare though...All leagues linked in the chain. Who knows, but it is interesting seeing how it will pan out.
EFL: Championship clubs aim for 25 May training date after conference meeting Championship clubs hope to gain government clearance for a 25 May return to regular training, as part of plans to resume the 2019-20 season. It is understood a target restart of 6 June has been discussed but clubs still anticipate a more likely 13 June date, in line with the Premier League. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52651502

So Scots Prem ended with 8 games renaning and Celtic crowned Champions and Hearts relegated despite only being 4 points adrift! Legal challenge being prepared.
More details of the Restart plan (Premiership and Championship). It seems that the 13th June date may slip. Project Restart: Premier League plan surprise inspections during training https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52704450
I am now in the the thought process, that if nothing can be sorted, then the season needs to be void. Doing a points per game equation is ridiculous as the more points u have the more points u will end up with. There is no equation involving current form, so essentially its a waste of time, no teams will move from there current position. Either finish the season or null and void it.
We were planning our sprint finish perfectly and Hull were sinking like a stone. Imagine relegating Luton at Kenilworth Road. Would have never got out alive.
Really don't see the hurry, or any reason not to finish the season. The most important thing is to wait until it is safe to play again, and for fans to be safe when watching the games. When it is safe, finish the season then, even if it is next Spring 2021.
Apart from the TV broadcasting rights contract issue, I believe that there is a deadline for the national leagues to nominate the Champion League and Europa Cup participants. Hence it is linked to relegations, thus indirectly to the Championship. UEFA are not in favour of the “null and void” season approach, but would prefer to complete the season or resolve it on a point per game basis. This I believe is the driver of a timeline. Each national league needs to inform UEFA od it’s plan by 25th May.
We can go to the Coronavirus or the Political thread to discuss this point. As regards the return of football in the Championship (and Premiership) there is no doubt that the UK (England) is lagging behind Germany (and some other European countries. Not a criticism, just a fact). As a result it seems that either we will re-start the leagues relatively soon, or we will need to thrown in the towel and decide the leagues on a points basis. The reason, the UEFA global milestones of European participants.
This may be true as they seem to setting the “pace”. I guess it is now relatively pleasant and safe on the shores of a beautiful lake in Switzerland! You are correct. Football is not worth lives!
