I would love to know what these text messages are that wise men say have talked about on their podcast today. Stating if they come out that someone would be in big trouble. it’s going to get nasty this.
If they have incriminating messages they should just release them. It can't be libellous if it's true.
Far be it for me to say if it's true or not but there's a possible summary of it on the season card Q&A thread on the SMB, page 51
So Rodwell was on the board of the EFL that ratified Donald's takeover? And they held off appointing him because he was also due to join the club then but there was a conflict of interest if he ratified it and then profited with a 3% share? Is that the summary of the texts?
So Rodwell ratified Donald as fit and proper in return for a cushy number at the club. Allegedly of course!
Oh he's already admitted that was bollocks and he only showed £20m, but you're right, now we know why the EFL accepted that instead of what was needed.
Well, we couldn't infer that as such, they might well have deemed him fit and proper anyway, but if it was true it certainly wouldn't look good
That's precisely why I've cancelled my two, and my other daughter, her partner and his brother are going to follow suit. It's a bloody affront! We'll go game by game if and when we resume. Disgusted!
Just listened to the podcast, thought it was a little disappointing that they showed the carrot then took it away, very much like they said about the texts then realised they shouldn’t have mentioned it. It was a bit like we know more than you and we’re not telling you, yet..
Not hearing great things about Rodwell. Admittedly a couple of second hand comments but both giving the same impression. "A Bully who thinks he's the dogs bollox's and knows everything" was the latest comment. Not very encouraging since given his CV he's been far from successful. We don't need that kind of character we need someone with brains and ability and leadership. Someone people respect and are happy to get behind to pull the club back together and come up with a successful plan for the future. If the comments are true they fit right in with the latest Season ticket announcements which were blunt, tactless, badly thought out, and anyone with an ounce of common sense could see they would upset a large proportion of the fan base. Hopefully I'm wrong but this is the first major announcement since becoming CEO and he's f****d up big time.
I can see the club going into administration in the near future with all the **** that is going on, Yesterday's season ticket Q & A **** has finally broken the mass majority of our fans in my opinion unfortunately.
Its certainly a worry. Honestly, you could have hired a dyed in the wool mag and they'd struggle to have done more damage. Things SAFC had going for it: Parachute payments : take them, say you'll pay it back but then say you won't and remove any obligation to do so Top academy : let the best prospects go for a pittance before they can get near the first team Higher division players : get rid of them all Fair enough, they were on massive wages : aye, but we're going to keep paying them anyway, just over a slightly longer period Biggest budget in the league : slash it and sign league one journeymen that don't gel into a coherent side and have no sell on value Fans : can them parasites, call them unbelievably uneducated in business, praise the Charlton fans just after a play off final when they've spent hundreds to go to Wembley for the second time in a couple of months to watch a side that can barely muster a shot on goal, take the piss out of them to the point where even the most loyal are cancelling season cards, with many likely not to return Chance to hire a new manager : get Phil ****ing Parkinson Potential to get taken over by billionaires : **** about, ask for too much and possibly lose the opportunity Genuinely, Lee Ryder would have struggled to do this much harm to the club
sheepman, its being reported over the road that the new club secretary has come in from the post at Eastleigh. Do you know anything about that?
No sorry Don't get any info from within the club. The stuff about Rodwell came in a very round about way. Spent a lot of years in Glasgow and V friendly with a lad who does a lot of work for clubs in Scotland mainly Partick Thistle He's met Rodwell once and mentioned when he was appointed that he didn't rate or like him. Anyway Turns out a good mate of his had quite a few dealings with Rodwell and doesn't speak very highly of him to say the least.
