    Ridsdale?
    Bournemouth?
I liked O'Leary too but if winning something is the criteria then?

Morning all. Why do you think anyone inclined to vote for the Labour party would give a monkeys who you thought was Leeds Uniteds best manager?

I see Captain Jackboot is still on the same mind-bending drugs regime. No surprise there, then. <doh>

Enjoyed our holiday from him. Perhaps he'll emigrate permanently next time - somewhere without internet, hopefully. :D

Imagine how lively it would have got on here if we’d have all voted Grayson in the top 3 and invited Clive back

I think with O’Leary it’s easy to pass it off as him just spending champagne pete’s money and that a monkey would have that set of players near the top of the league. There’s some truth in that but he put together a young exciting side and we played some great stuff. The over-spending is on ridsdale and while you can say he should have shown greater responsibility, I think O’Leary gets held accountable more than he should, for that. The fact his managerial career did nothing after that probably adds fuel. Woodgate/bowyer scandal and that book doesn’t help with fans views of him but from football perspective he gave us good times, and hope.

The rest of LLs post speaks for itself. But one thing I’m sure we can all agree on is hoping Barnsley get relegated so we can buy Ben white from Brighton on the cheap.

I enjoyed the O'Leary times except for the nagging miser in my head saying "How can we afford all of this?"

Grayson was up there as somebody who got us playing better than we deserved to do. I suspect he took us about as far as his abilities allowed but he wasn't helped by Bates, is he dead yet?, Bates that is.

Not sure about O’Leary I’m on the fence. He gave a lot of good youngsters a chance but should that credit have been given to Paul Hart? We were always on the verge with O’Leary but no silverware and he was given an open cheque book

Mate, I enjoyed the O'Leary times. The question as to should he have done better is a good one. Had we not run up such a big debt would he have been as good or if we hadn't run out of money would he still be manager. I have no idea I just enjoyed the football we played at the time and the wins we had against teams we hadn't been playing against for some time.

Doubt he’s dead. I’d expect many Leeds fans will give him a good send off, it’ll hardly go unnoticed

Grayson seemed one good defensive coach away from having a great team.

Have to agree, I haven’t enjoyed our football as much as that until Bielsa took charge. Bielsa deserves special praise as how he has transformed a group of average looking players into top of the league is miraculous and he’s had us playing outstanding football for two seasons now.

Another thing from the O’Leary era, he had a team where virtually every Leeds supporter would agree on at least 8 possibly 9 of the best starting 11. Thinking about that now, I don’t recall any complaints of how predictable we were back then or complaints about plan B?

I haven't checked this but it would be interesting to see how many Heckingbottom players were in Bielsa's 2018-19 team and to understand the difference in performance.

The thing about Bielsa is he’s at a different level to all the managers/coaches since wilko. Until Bielsa who is a world class coach who could fit in with any team anywhere. The previous 30 or 40 appointments to the job were at different levels from rubbish to average, rarely above average. Proof being virtually none of them went on to do anything significant in football after their Leeds adventures. Many have barely worked again
