for me, the longer this has gone on the more at present I don't think the govt are doing what they should be doing. I think ALL parties should have worked together more collectively to protect those that pay them to represent them. 1) This virus was new so any government in charge would have struggled with the lack of information coming from a country that wants to have control of our IT, provide PPE etc and generally copies many things others make...but their versions are usually pretty poor. It was a new attack which had not been planned for or maybe considered before. In 2000, I was in the civil service and the amount of work that went on to protect the IT systems was astounding and yet a chemical attack of this magnitude doesn't appear to have been thought of. 2) The fact that we did not lock down straight away - no one should have arrived or left the UK. 3) Cummings - he should have been sacked. End of. Anybody else would have lost their job - Cummings (in my opinion) has made the last couple of weekends available for everyone to travel anywhere, and not bother with social distancing. His behaviour alone will be a reason why their will be a second spike. He has "represented" himself and the government and encouraged the herd mentality...It's alright for me so stuff everyone else. . 4) Hancock - I feel sorry for him. If there was a scape goat for this it will be him. I do not think he has been sufficiently supported 5) Boris - I was glad he got the virus. Not sure whether he is 100% recovered today. I do have friends that have lost family members due to this virus so understand how this can devastate a family. 6) PPE - the HSE have been cut back year on year. Every company, whether public or private should adhere to the rules. Why isn't infection control checked at Care Homes, and the preventative measures they have in place. PPE should be included in this. In my first Care job, the infection control policy stated "regular hand washing". I managed to improve things by running more training sessions with staff, getting their verdicts on the PPE and looking at getting better PPE purchased. What was always irritating for me at the care home was seeing gloves thrown on the grounds of the school and care home, not only a health issue if you touch one but when the kids have pica ( a condition where someone will eat inedible objects), a object that could choke a child). 7) Khan...a complete joke. Wouldn't trust him to run a bath let alone be mayor of anything. From what I have read, he let the bus drivers, train operators down by failing to provide PPE. 8) Not sure whether labour, lib dems or greens would have done any better. No one has stood up to china. everyone seems happy to roll over and let the chinese tickle their belly. 9) The only prime minister who has managed the crisis at all manages one of the most beautiful countries I have ever visited and would love to live in, New Zealand. Two islands that could control lock down. Australia tried and have managed to address this as well quite well once the cruise ships stopped stopping. UK another island that should've done better. 10) Testing.....when you see more people queuing for KFC and MacDonalds…….you really have to question the mentality of some of the human race. I know the test is like an MOT - only valid for the time you have the test, but surely that is more important than cheap fatty foods. If the virus does attack those that are obese and or overweight (and we have all probably put on a few pounds during lockdown), then who knows what disaster will happen. When all is said and done, I still believe that this virus was created by the Chinese. You never hear of the Muslims that were locked away to " be taught the Chinese way", so have they been killed off? The Chinese doctors and scientists that "disappear".....a similar thing happens in Russia only some of their scientists and doctors appear to "fall out of windows in high rise buildings". With China shortly having complete control over Hong Kong, and their on going battle with India, maybe this was created to eliminate some of those that don't agree with the Chinese Government. Hope this some what answers the question
And how many Yesses? This is a democratic opportunity for all including Conservative party voters even those like you who proclaim they are not right wing. it's a NO from me but then I' m sure you'll brand me as a leftie who is looking to knock the government every chance I get because of the Brexit vote. So what is it Ellers?
I think you will find that many who criticise the government dont have a preferred political allegiance. You obviously do and therefore defend everything and I presume are proud like Johnson. It's people like yourself who actually make this political. Oh the irony
My opinion is that anyone who is proud of how this government have handled the pandemic really isn't a nice person at all. Pathetic, sad, selfish, nasty are also other words that spring to mind.
Only Matt Hancock doing the press conference today, Vallance obviously didn’t want his 20k is a good result quote thrown at him as the (underestimated) death total passes 40k. I genuinely dozed off for a bit during this, and couldn’t really tell you what he has talked about.
357 deaths, being reported that its higher than the rest of Europe combined! R rate apparantly going up in some areas, still on level 4 I presume. **** me when will this government ever get a grip. What a complete shambles they are!
Too early to say they’ve not done a good job. Wait until all the info is in or you’re just anti-government.
How can anyone be pro government regarding the way they have dealt with this. They would have to be delusional, stupid or a Tory.
Remember face masks on public transport on the 15th. Obviously it's perfectly safe not to wear on the 14th and before.
So R rate apparently over 1 in some areas and perilously close elsewhere. Them's lockdown numbers aren't they? This is all kinds of ****ed up now.
