To be honest, Watford played to Vesty's strength, in terms of dealing with high balls. I always worry when opposition players leave him in their wake, or turn him inside out, but as a defender against crosses, he's very capable
I know he does a lot of running etc and everyone seems to love it, but today was a prime example of how poor he is in reality. Two golden opportunities, ball at his feet, Long runs straight into the nearest defender! Che for me going forward!
I saw a bit of Vardy earlier on.... good god Leicester are struggling..... money on Ings seems well spent....!
Great performance. Ings with goals again, however the defence deserve some plaudits. I thought Vestergaard had a really good game and kept Deeney quiet. The two fullbacks played well too. Decent.
I stuck it on after he went on his scoring spree either side of Christmas. I want him on penalties now.
It was the perfect game for Stephens to be suspended for. One game later, and Vestergaard would have been taking on City...
Anyone else impressed with KWP today. Looked solid and reliable - hope he continues to impress over the following games
There were two enormous differences for me, between today and Thursday. First, was the RB performance. Second, was how much we wanted to look forward rather than backwards at every opportunity. Including the likes of Romeu and Smallbone. It felt that Ralph really had a word with them collectively, after all that backwards rubbish against Arsenal.
Ings and JWP were probably the pick of the bunch today but Romeu was not far behind them. Hopefully that's him back to his best.
Hard to pick our best player, apart from the obvious. Everyone played there part in a great team performance, thought KWP looked really assured at RB, it was probably the first game that Vesty didn't terrify me. Well done Ralph.
Has anyone ever known a team to be so brilliant away from home but utter dogshit when at home? Don't just mean Saints, can't recall such a stark difference that way round before. Bizarre.
Che was unlucky, I was praying/willing him to score that chance. I don’t think we should sell him, I think there’s a footballer in there.
It is a lot easier to go forwards when the home team (watford) is trying to attack you. We dont have the tools to get behind teams sitting deep at st marys but we are perfectly set up to counter attack on the road We are a joy to watch away.
Palace last year is the first that comes to mind. Relegation-grade at home, one of the best away teams in the league.
