Bournemouth probably wouldn't be getting relegated if not for their multiple injury crises, though. There is real talent in that squad, but their best attacker in Brooks missed most of the year, most of their defenders missed significant time, and Lewis Cook hasn't really been the same coming off ACL surgery. They have also bought too frequently from the U23 squads of big clubs, though.
I’d like to say that this is unbelievable but, sadly, despite the best efforts, racism is alive and well in this country headed up by an openly racist PM (though he’s a bit more careful now) and the disgusting characters of Farage etc ... I hope they find the little **** who sent this and string him (or her - though I suspect it’s a bloke) up .....
Also there was a racist attack on Zaha, with a 12 year old being arrested. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53381586
When we have a PM who referred to Muslim women as “letterboxes “ and laughed it off, just shows racism is rife in this country starting at the top.
What a nasty, spiteful, evil society we live in. That somebody should even think let alone publish this foul racist outburst is beyond my comprehension.
I think that the bout of nationalism has increased the confidence of such people to voice their bile.
Trouble is racism is everywhere. I was watching a documentary with the Mrs about a year or so ago and a black family somewhere in Africa had two albino kids who where racially abused. Will it ever stop one can only hope.
I think it but don’t say it because I am polite. As a free woman who has benefitted from sacrifices of women before her, I find them an affront to womanhood. I recognise that it may not be down to them solely, but we are lucky that the suffragists didn’t bow down to pressure. And yes, I do recognise the irony of objecting to face covering at the moment, but one is of societal advantage and one is a sign of subjugation.
It is a lot like circumcision. If you ask anyone who has their child circumcised, they will say it is much cleaner and they are always sure it was the the right thing to do. They can see no religious or social indoctrination in their logical decision. However, there is no science to support their stance. The same thing with all the young Muslim people I know. Not one thinks they are forced to wear a head covering and they all believe it is by choice, but again a form of social indoctrination has taken place. I don't care about the head covering as much as about the lifestyle expectations and how differently male Muslims are treated by their parents. When I speak to young Muslims, which is often, there is often a strong difference in expectations of chores - girls cook and clean while boys play xbox - and in terms of future career and education. It is not racist to yearn for greater equality in all elements of society, but calling someone names because their cultural dress is different to yours is. EDIT: I had no idea this was not the politics board! Sorry!
There's a debate about free speech and woke culture. I am for allowing anyone to have an opinion even if it is something I strongly disagree with rather than banning and being outraged at everything. However it is clear that there has been an emboldening of nationalism and extremism in many countries: Brazil, China, Poland, Russia, UK, USA etc. which is deeply concerning and the blaming of foreigners or minorities has become a populist tool. We must be tolerant though question society as we don't want to return to 1930s Europe.
