When will Bielsa sign his contract?

With five weeks to go until the new season kicks off, Marcelo Bielsa is yet to sign is new contract, but should the Leeds fans be concerned?

Not according to Leeds Utd journalist Phil Hay. He believes it would make no sense for anyone — Bielsa, Orta, Radrizzani or the Leeds’ squad to part company at this time!

The City of Leeds loves Bielsa. He has done in 24 months what 14 previous Managers attempted, but failed to do! Why would he leave now, when he can lock horns with the likes of Guardiola, Mourinho, Klopp and fat Frank!

Leeds Director of football Victor Orta was instrumental in bringing Bielsa to Elland Road. It could not have happened without him!

The excitable Spaniard is optimistic Bielsa will stay at Elland Road. “We’re having very positive talks with Marcelo daily,” he says. “We’re hoping that we’re going to be working towards the Premier League season (with him) because we’re planning a really good project there.”

Sources close to Bielsa are confident the Argentine will sign on the dotted line but insisted he won’t be rushed. He will not sign until the terms of his contract are crystal clear. Very rarely do his expectations revolve around money. All parties remain confident that a deal will be announced before training resumes next Wednesday.

Leeds favourites with bookies to sign Watkins

Leeds Utd have emerged as favourites with the bookies to sign Brentford striker Ollie Watkins. The 24yo had a clause in his contract saying if the Bees failed to win promotion, he would be able to leave the club for 18m.

Watkins was the second highest goal scorer in the Championship last term, netting 25 times, one less than tp scorer in the Championship Aleksandar Mitrovic!

Belgium media have disclosed today that Leeds were prepared to bid 31.6m to Bring Jonathan David to Elland Road. Unfortunately for the Whites, the Canadian International has his heart set on Lille! Had Leeds signed him, how much of their transfer kitty, would that have eaten up?

Noel Whelen believes that Brentford's attacking midfielder Said Benrahma fits the bill, and ticks all the boxes for Leeds Utd. The former striker believes that Benrahma would be an ideal replacement for Hernandez.

According to Get French Football News (GFFN), Chelsea have offered the services of Michy Batshuayi to Leeds this Summer. The 26yo signed for the Blues back in 2016 for 33m, but has had limited success on loan to Dortmund, Valencia and Palace where he netted five times in 11 appearances.

Leeds United are favourites to sign Norwich ace Emiliano Buendia. He's likely to cost around £25m. (Oddschecker)

Juan Foyth's proposed move to Elland Road is edging closer.
Media outlet TMW claim a deal is edging closer to bring Spurs centre back Juan Foyth to Elland Road with a suggested fee of 15m.

Kun Temenuzhkov has joined third-tier Spanish side Real Union on loan. The 20yo joined Leeds in the summer of 2017 from Barcelona’s youth side and has since been a regular in the club’s Under-23 side scoring regularly for the reserves. Unfortunately he has failed to make the step up. to the first team!

I feel Watkins would be an excellent signing.

Morning all. I'm still waiting on the contract being signed until I get carried away with the signing of players etc. The attraction for signings will be only for Bielsa as manager IMO.

Re. Watkins. Brentford have said that £18 million release clause is just paper talk and they want significantly more.

Re. Benrahma. Chelsea are interested at £25 million. Puts them in the driving seat I would imagine as he already lives in London.

Jonathan David prefers Lille. Lille signed Morelos from Rangers. Do we want to be second choice for a player at £30 million? I'd move on.

We'll end up with an unknown. Che Adams anyone? We were quoted £18 million in January.

Foyth is an interesting one. Initially I didn't want him. The consensus was that he was a bit soft, mistake ridden, not quite good enough. I went down Foyth rabbit hole yesterday when we put a £10 million bid in. The stats show why we are interested. He averages more interceptions a game than any other Spurs defender and a certain Ben White. He has more passes per game than the other Spurs defenders and a certain Ben White. Of those passes, more were forward passes than any other Spurs defenders or a certain Ben White with a higher success rate than his fellow Spurs players.

I also found that Barcelona were linked to him in January as a long term replacement for Pique due to his talent of playing out from the back. I'm slowly coming around to it.

If we miss out on White then Foyth will be a good replacement.

18 million for Watkins is a good deal if we can land it and I think Bielsa would help him raise his game to premiership level.

I would be more than happy with Batshuayi as well.

 

2 big thing in transfer deals are wages and first team appearances. As an example Benrhama will want to play regular football so accepting a big pay rise and sitting on the bench at Chelsea is your choice or do you accept a smaller pay rise and play every week in Leeds. Ambition should be the main driver not wages.

The same can be said for Michy Batshit someone I didn't want, but since then I have looked at his stats especially playing for Belgium where he scores for fun. His stats everywhere hes been are excellent at a goal every 93 minutes and hes a powerful unit and if he wants to take a pay cut will play every game for Leeds and score goals with the chances we create. Cheaper living near Leeds than Central London. Look at the big picture big fella

 

Cannot see young Kum coming back to Leeds now but we should all be thankful for his play the season our kids won the lot as it was his goals along with Edmondson that did it. Kun wasnt just a striker as Corberan would play him at 10 to create a lot of chances for Edmondson and he did the No9 role when Edmondson wasnt playing and scored goals. I would say that aling with Hugo Diaz Kun was intrinsic to winning the league and the National title. I wish him luck with his career
