very nicely put!..probably couldn't do it better … however ..always a however! Whilst Lee had a say in it was Ashton that made the calls … but of course on the sales side neede LJ's expertise at improving the players to make the money!
60+ signings. poster also did not mention that wages increased to twenty million under LJ. thats why City had to sell players otherwise ffp was going to be broken.
one of the best lighthearted "sarcastic /humour .. tic .." pics of the past 12 months .. good job our loo is close to my study ...
Over 4 PAGES on this thread today. Only THREE replies about the game tonight. Rancour will go and on. I said it the day Junior was appointed. Well done Lansdown.
So that was down to recruitment and Mr Ashton had a very large part to play in that. I imagine to get all of those players to fit the identity that were available would not have been easy, to come to a club not renowned for success or what you would call a big club. He knew the cake he wanted to make but finding the right ingredients at the right price was near enough impossible...I remember many of the transfer deadlines where very little was available and then leaving it to the last minute and bringing in from abroad as a last resort.... It would have also been a massive gamble to bring in young inexperienced players straight into the first team of championship football, fighting for points in a very competitive league where very quickly you're found out. Perhaps his goal, the identity, the style he wanted was far to ambitious, for him and the club.......but I don't blame him or the club for that.. At the end of the day, the players were not good enough and ultimately the buck stops with the manager.........................plus it didn't help with a section of the supporters willing him on to fail because of who he was.......... very grownup!!
R&W Thinking about Junior, as if , I think he should try for the Sunderland job. Although L1 they are a big big club. He won't get more backing anywhere else in L1, and sure his pal Bailey Wright would put a word in. Can't see him deserving a job anywhere but his clever football confuspeak might bamboozle the poor sod's enough to sign him. His options will diminish as time goes on, he doesn't need the money but if he has ambition he needs to get fixed up.
Wonder why Cotts didn't go for the Sunderland job, I mean Shrewsbury, with all due-respect are not exactly a club with great expectations? The manager that gave you maximum joy!!
News 4 days ago.... Derby County tipped to make a move for 39-y/o boss with EFL experience as manager search continues Eric Steele has backed Lee Johnson to be a genuine contender to be Derby County manager. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/d...h-efl-experience-as-manager-search-continues/
Mr Johnson stated unequivocally that he was involved in the recruitment of players, he had the final say and it would take him x (3?) amount of transfer windows to find the players. Lee Johnson and Mr Ashton also stated they took time to assess players so they would have the right dna etc and Mr Johnson also brought in additional coaching staff so he could concentrate more on recruiting players. Lee Johnson also stated that with the clubs technical department he was working on an index of players to include core data including personality profiling to increase the success of recruitment. You could not identify what that identity was or even what he was building towards. It became a nonsense. He could not meet his own goals, he was not good enough, his players and that is what the squad was could not meet his ever cyclic ideas. His best football was down to having his hand forced by injury. The more resource provided by an incredibly understanding and supportive FC owner the worse, the more confused Mr Johnson’s performance became.
So you have Lee Johnson and Mark Ashton assessing players and Mr Johnson involved in the recruitment of players and additional coaching, is that Boris or Gary? Mr Johnson is probably confused because one should be running the country and other wasn't involved at our club
All a load of waffle in my opinion. Not buying it that he had the final say of the players he wanted, maybe from a selection of what was offered to him at the time. Assessing is not getting....I can assess how I'm gonna earn a million, doesn't mean it's gonna happen. Working on an index, again means not necessarily getting....it's all pie in the sky.. As to the rest of your comments when producing his best football, again is nonsense.....Didn't have to play Reid up front, could have looked at something else..Not forced at all.......but you would say that!!
Far from me to interject in your little spat 1For but Junior admitted at the time in a 'presser' that he was forced to play Reid up front. 'I have no other choice, all my strikers are injured'. Anyway 1For, I've had a word with matron - she has your cocoa and tablets ready
Lee Johnson did say he was forced to play Reid as a forward due to injuries and that he did have the final say on players. Lee Johnson was head of identifying players according to Lee Johnson!!
