Haydock 12.10 Todd Has run well at this time of the year in 2018 and 2019. Only 1lb above last winning mark. Conditional has won on the horse in the past and knows him well. Olly Murphy amongst the winners yesterday.
I love races like this with performers in the line up you've seen competing for quite a long time. I'll be siding with Fingerontheswitch because he ist a consistant sort who often runs into place money when not winning. Was 2nd of 1lb higher and 2nd on soft and heavy in the past so conditions shouldn't worry. Form with Millie Wonnacott riding Fingerontheswitch who takes off 5 lb today reads 5332212P (Pulled up in the Kim Muir Chase at the Cheltenham festival last march when weakened after 4 out). Stable amongst the winners recently. Hopefully Fingerontheswitch is fit enough after the break to run a sound race for each way purposes.
Nass knows that I have long had this system of only looking at ten year olds in these veteran races. He has never come back to me with the analysis but my own observations is that they have a huge win percentage. The good Dr won one last week with a 25/1 shot. I have backed LATE ROMANTIC at 25/1 for this as i thought it was overpriced and it is blue across the board now and generally 14/1.
My putting something up is usually the kiss of death for it, but I've been keeping an eye on Mark Usher lately and he's said he wouldn't be surprised if Willingly was involved in the finish in the lucky last at Kempton this evening. He reckons she's well in and Izzy Francis is good value for her 7lbs. Currently 18/1 on B365, but now cursed with my money.
Very disappointing. Drifted out to 10/3 and just didn't seem to be able to go with them. Tagovailoa was backed into 11/2 and ran just as badly. Well done Grade One and Stick, excellent as always.
Great call, Stick, well done! Nice call too from Grade One with Miranda, good shout! And a good e/w from LordGyllene as well, you guys are in very good form!

He is getting older Swanny and I wondered if there was a plot going on with him being ridden differently (ie using his speed at the other end of the race). I remember noting Caspian Prince as a speedball over 2 years ago. After 17 races without a win, I eventually gave up. He then won at 28/1, with Tom Marquand riding. He has won one more race since, with Tom Marquand riding again (the only times he rode him) Maybe Tom should ride Ornate, who has actually beaten Caspian Prince
