The thing with that is, you can sort of guess what he means, and the approach from JHB should have been predicted, but it's his arrogance and contempt that pushes him to respond in such a patronising and condescending way that just makes him look a tit. Anyone facing the media should have received some training in such things, so they can use it to their advantage.

 

The human right not to be stabbed first emerges in The Magna Carta, so possibly more of a secular issue than your question implies.

Calling people 'gammons' is definitely racist though

 

You can break them down into different categories:

- Gammon-curious folk that tend to dabble in gammoney views but not there yet
- Closet-Gammons that are not ready to accept and be proud of their way of life, and get upset if you label them as such
- Gammon-as-**** ****s that embrace it and wear their badge with pride
