A new year Brexit trade deal Roll out of a vaccine And pages of coffee puns Otherwise you are back in time to see us smash Liverpool Great to have you back on board
Evenin' guv'na. Nope. Nothing new, anyhow. Other than the emergence of Super-Vesty. And @fatletiss NOT REPLYING TO MY TEXT.
Hopefully the new contract for Armstrong will help him to put in an extra shift for this one, as I think we need him to help open up defences. Even when he has been off the boil, it was, IMO, his poor passing that was the issue, conceding easy possession with misplaced 10 yard passes etc. He is still, at times, taking the ball past the first man and creating space for others, so on that basis I would start him and hope that he plays himself back into form.
Bleacher ... "Another knock-on effect of the central defensive injuries Liverpool have sustained is increased trouble dealing with midfield runners breaking forward from deep. For several years now, the Reds’ midfield three have passed deep runners on and left them for the centre-backs, knowing the colossal van Dijk or incredibly speedy Gomez will pick them up. But with neither present, those runners have been passed on and allowed to run into dangerous areas and really threaten. Among Saints’ ranks, Stuart Armstrong in particular is the kind of player who can ghost forward and take advantage of this, starting from a deeper position and making penetrative runs past Liverpool’s midfield trio. The Scot’s proven incisive and adept in those pockets between the lines, either creating or scoring several goals this season." Not to mention Theo's runs ... We may still lose (sorry) but we can cause them problems
I can see it now, Stuey, Theo or KWP running at them and drawing a foul just outside the area and then up steps JWP...
That's about it and if Moussa can recover his loss of confidence, we could give them a nightmare game. What a way to start the New Year! Hope is our strength is it not?
Apparently McCarthy is out. Seen it mentioned in a few places now Though they might be getting it all from the same original souce
I don't think he's ever been short of confidence. Over confidence has occasionally got him into trouble though! What you see is what you get - worth a starting place.
Not particularly, I'd rather not disrupt the team (in particular the defence) any more than it has been.
It's so long since we last saw Forster I think we might be surprised. Just thankful he won't have the fans in the stadium. His loos of form with us was, as I recall, down to personal issues which are now hopefully behind him. He certainly had a good spell at Celtic.
If Alex is indeed out I have faith in Forster to do a decent job. He was very good at Celtic last season.
