I don't get to see Spurs as often as you guys ( not that often at all really) but to expand on my point on Harry - each year there are concerns about injuries and burn out, not helped by the number of games he plays. In addition, from what I see he pops up all over the park which will take it's toll over time.

I completely agree that he does a great job wherever he works on the pitch and perhaps my judgement is clouded by seeing how the team with Eriksen performed 3/4 years ago, but I feel it can only help to have a much more creative player in the middle of the park who can control possession and pass consistently to his team mates this taking some of the pressure off Harry.

Against this, in the last few games I have seen our control and passing has improved, probably linked to N'Dombele at last getting fitter and hopefully Do Celso can achieve the same. If so then we will have 2 players who can maybe replicate Eriksen's former standard.

I have also noted a return to the selective pressing style which can only help with plenty of ball turnover and an improvement in possession and goal scoring chances. Okay 2 of those games were Brentford and last night, neither Prem standard and the test will be against Prem sides of higher quality.

Finally, great to see the 3 youngsters getting their chance last night. A relatively soft 4th round draw should see them get another run out. <ok>

He's just been wrecked by injuries. Great signing for Leverkusen if he can get past them. Not a massive outlay if he can't.

Sky confirming the rumours that Valencia want Winks on loan with an option to buy but that Spurs are reluctant to see him go.

    **** knows why.

I think White is not yet ready to step in. He played well yesterday and can fill the roll but hasn't the experience that we need right now to compete. He will be for next season .

Aside from the obvious HG pachyderm glowering in our direction from behind the coffee table, there's another reason Winks isn't moving this window. The ubermensch wants players who play the percentage plays, hence his very public (and completely bullshit) blaming Dele for Stoke's goal last month because rather than playing the percentage ball he tried a flick which didn't come off. And how plays the percentage plays more than anyone else? Well...Hojbjerg actually, but nobody wants to admit that, but after that it's Winks

When looking for players who are seen as surplus to requirements, look at the ones who give away the ball with wayward passes or running up blind alleys. For one obvious example, watch Gedson from last night, as he routinely lost possession either through trying to dribble through their backline and was swiftly shut down every time, as well as him giving the ball away three times out of three when trying backheeled passes to runners

Same goes for Lucas who, while he does deserve credit for working on the side of his game when he doesn't have the ball since late last season, is also one of the culprits for our right flanks resembling the Bermuda Triangle for the last year when he does

Slower more technical game would suit Winks. It’s also why he looks better for England than Spurs.

I kind of agree and it’s what makes it even odder that he’s lasted for 4+ years here in the fastest league in the world.

I actually think the Eredivisie would be better for him than La Liga. He gives away a lot of needless fouls here in England and so in Spain where players dive/ feign contact far more than over here I think he’d pick up a lot of cards. With the Eredivisie also having a slower pace but with a lot less theatrics, whilst somewhat being a B-tech Premier League in terms of style, he’d probably be able to take on a similar role that Frenkie did for Ajax and do pretty well.

Apparently Sky Germany are saying Sabitzer’s rejected a new contract at Leipzig.

Nope, not getting my hopes up. Not doing it. Nope. No. Not me. Never.

Just to emphasise my ignorance of non PL players - what type of player is he? Haven't really paid attention to him in the past.

Versatile midfielder, can play pretty much anywhere in the midfield roles. His signing would probably spell the end for Dele and possibly Lamela whilst Lo Celso would also likely be pushed down the pecking order.

Not that it’s something I like remembering too much but he’s the guy that scored the first two goals in our 3-0 away loss to Leipzig last season in the CL.

To add as well, Leipzig did sign Szoboszlai this window which in theory could well be the replacement for Sabitzer.

Stop it, DH. You do this **** to yourself all the time. Don’t. Get. Hopes. Up.

Are Leipzig now a CL incumbent via their league ??
If so, then obviously a wage grab by him.

    Yeah they generally are nowadays.

He’s been there for 6 years now though so I’m thinking he may fancy a new challenge (and a wage hike of course). Arsenal are also linked though, likely as an Ozil replacement.

I’d be really annoyed if he went to Arsenal as I feel he’s a good creative player that would help take some of the burden and reliance on Kane and Son

    This season
    14 as a CM
    2 as an AM
    1 as a DM

    Last season
    21 as a RW
    14 as a CM
    9 as an AM

    Two seasons ago
    28 as a RW
    12 as an AM
    1 as a CF
    1 as a LW

So, that sort of answers your question - namely he can't play right back

Regarding Sabitzer I don’t see us getting him this window. We need to shift non-HG players for something like that to happen and I don’t see Lamela, or Lucas going this window who realistically are the ones we’re most likely to shift.

Same reason Winks won’t be going anywhere (sorry DH, but Jose just said as much in his presser before Fulham), he’s HG and just decent enough to be a squad player. He’d be a better fit in a different league for sure but I think there’s zero chance of him going anywhere. Maybe in the summer once Skipp comes back but not before then.
