anyone else make them? My son bought me one for Christmas 2019, and I spent a few weeks painting and putting it together. Really enjoyed doing it, found it very relaxing and therapeutic. I've done a few more since, and will put some pics up if anyone is interested. This was my first one though, and was quite pleased how it came out, and after todays result it seemed a good time to post. HMS VICTORY.
This was something I made in 2018, though not a plastic model kit......matchsticks!! Took bloody ages. The lights are from a cheap set of battery operated twig light things from b&m. Was funny as owt watching the wife searching amongst the twig things looking for the on/off controller....she says "the switch has gone....it was there yesterday".....
Funny enough this popped up on my Amazon feed on Facebook today. Quite why you would want to build this I’m not sure but it’s strangely cool. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06X9VTRDN/?tag=not606-21
Next one was a Yamaha YZF R1. Loved doing this one, really detailed. This is the engine block..... And to give some idea of scale...... Some really good detail..... And the finished bike.... I sent this pic to my son who lives in Thailand, and he thought I had bought a real one..... It was a photo of the kitchen, printed it out, and put it behind the model on a wooden table....
I like all this sort of stuff, we don't have much space to store it unfortunately. I 'bought the kids' one of these for Christmas https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index....csOlw9jzqitcXvaf8QIQdfbzD4XWV3bRoCuZwQAvD_BwE It's pretty cool, it's an RC car but it's slowish with 4wd and it can climb over almost anything, what it lacks in speed it makes up for in power. Good fun setting up courses on the floor it can climb over cushions and whatnot no bother.
Look class that. I do quite fancy having a go at building one. I've just finished an old Tamiya 1/12 Leopard tank kit which was originally designed to put a simple forward/reverse motor in, but the motors are no longer available. Edit. It was a 1/35, not 1/12.
Don't know if this is of any use to you mate https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-...854702?hash=item343a07466e:g:vusAAOSwqNRf-iu8
Cheers for that mate.....really appreciate it. It won't fit the one i have, but I've put it in my watch list, it would be good one to do. Individual track parts.....that would keep me out of mischief for 2021!!
I couldn't find 1:12 anywhere, plenty of 1:16 and 1:35 around. Nothing on google images as well. If you had the numbers from the motor it could probably be sourced from a manufacturer
Aye mate, you're right, the Leopard I done is 1/35, not 1/12 as I posted. The Tamiya bikes are1/12, the tanks are 1/35. The link you posted is 1/16, so would be a decent size. I'm well impressed with the Leopard tank, even for a donkeys old kit, it came out great. It was my first go with mud and weathering, I will post some pics in due course....ive got a few before that one to put up.
I'm bored so was having a look through some old youtube videos. There's one of a yank tank being built wich shows the forward/reverse motor/gearbox. It might be available still Have a look for the Tamiya 70097 twin motor and see if that's it
Cheers for that, I've had a look and I think that would work with a 1/35 tank. It will have to wait for a future build though, as the mud ive put on the one I've just finished sets solid, so won't be moving anywhere.
