Well quite, and as you know, they've only heard of Ings and JWP in the main (not that I disagree completely with the ratings).
I think it’s fairly predictable and consistent with our performances in the main, so far this season. If we beat, say Liverpool or Villa or Everton, their fans will very likely rate our players higher than if we are thrashed by them. Vesty must have impressed quite a few people to get a rating of 7.33!
OMG. What a player. How often was he called for offside when he'd started his run inside his own half. Refs couldn't believe that he could get a ten yard start on a defender unless he was off. One of the few players who'd have benefited from VAR. As the cliche of the time said, as much a thoroughbred as the horses he loved. What I loved about the guy was that he stayed in games when it just wasn't happening for him or the team. One of memories of that was playing Chelsea in the old Second Division just before he left us for City. He'd had a stinker and the game was dire. He was coming deeper and deeper for the ball until you could see he was was totally naffed off. Picked the ball up and ran through four or five defenders to put us 1-0 up. MOTD that night described it as something wonderful in a game that needed something wonderful.
Happy birthday David. I met him many years ago when he was our youth team coach. A really lovely man.
Now what you don’t want to do, Dave, is try and blow all those candles out in one go... Happy Birthday Dave!
Me too. I wish all parties had felt he could have gone back to a development coaching role when it “didn’t work out” * as first team manager. * kept us up which is all Souness did after and all but Ballie had done before
oh no, that’s very sad. Another lovely man. He lived in my home town of Alton. He came along to give a talk and hand out medals at one of our end of seasons boys team events. RIP John.
