Going to try lupin tonight, all my family have been very impressed with it, dubbed or subtitles?? Decisions Decisions
Been watching Call My Agent on Netflix and really enjoyed it so far. One of four series to go. Six episodes per series. Watching in French with subtitles. It's called Dix Pour Cent in French (10% - the fee an agent takes from an actor). A bit like Extras in that each episode has a different film actor as themselves. No violence, limited nudity and fairly gentle comedy. Prefer it to Schitt's Creek.
Bit of a shout out for 'Damages' - watched it on Prime Video, so hope its ok in this thread. Its a bit old (2007 I think) but very twisty and fast paced.
Won my award for the worst film I've watched this millennium. You didn't even get to see the helmet! Let alone find out who was actually buried there. It somehow managed to make the whole process of archeology seem dull. Quite remarkable.
Well, it wasn't just about archaelogy and anyway, I bet it is as dull as dishwater sometimes. Also they didn't know at the time who was buried there and they hadn't found the helmet! Beautifully filmed with a good script. Lily James was very decorative and Ken Stott is always good at being a ****! I can think of worse ways of spending a couple of hours (City v AS the other night for one...)
I would rather watch that sort of programme, and other documentaries about ancient civilisations, than some of the brainless fodder for the masses that are on. Oldies will remember Kenneth Clarke's Civilisation, a programme watched by millions which wouldn't get a look in nowadays as people watched Celebrity Bakers Dancing On Ice.
If you watched the brilliant Deutschland 83 & 86 then the last of the trilogy Deutschland 89 is coming in a few weeks.
I decided to watch it this morning, having woken up a little too early. It's a great story and a good cast and as you say, good dialogue and filming, but I thought it went a bit flat. Half way through, I was really enjoying it, but then it sort of petered out a bit, still not terrible though.
