The lack of a yellow for Kante is so frustrating, because that limits his game once he's one foul away from walking.
Should have been a yellow, clear dive. Tom will no doubt say it would only have been a yellow if Taylor had given a pen and VAR had turned it down, or some such bollocks.
There was a distinct lack of Ralph's voice during that half. Deliberate tactic to keep things calmer/more subdued? I'd like to think so.
Very composed in our own half, which is not something that happens often. And happens even less with an unusual formation featuring a 120 lb flair player as the focal point of the opposition attack.
Great goal. Surprised to be 1.0 up at half time. Did we really not get anything from those tackles on Djenepo
For all their possession Chelsea have only had 3 shots with 2 on target. It was a much better 45 minutes of defending from Saints and to be fair to Moussa he has done great covering Bedders.
Chelsea are better than Liverpool. It's there for us though, if we can step it up a bit in the second half.
Meanwhile, Moussa Djenepo continues to receive treatment from the physio. Timo Werner and N'Golo Kante lucky to still be on the pitch BBC
But going into a tackle with your studs up and catching the player halfway up the shin warrants a yellow surely?
Ref not great today, clear fouls on Ings and Redders earlier not given. Djenepo getting hacked. Missed the 4 players offside.
Good defensive half and a wonderful goal. For all the talk of “they’ve only had one chance”, well, so have Chelsea. They can have all the possession in the world if they do nothing with it. Now I don’t fancy that continuing for the whole of the next half, but I’m proud of the display so far. Need to keep up concentration now, and hold onto the ball rather more effectively. I love the way Salisu reads the game by the way. A couple of times he’s spotted danger and stopped it. A couple of times he’s read it and just got there a little late, but he’s really young, and clearly a talent. If we win this 1-0, I’m buying a Mini Metro.
Yes but VAR can't give yellows. And he didn't really go in for a tackle. He was fouled by Romeu and was stretching because of the foul.
