Most importantly we’ve stopped the rot. The impressive performances by Djenepo and Salisu are great bonuses on top. COYR.
A bloke at work tells me each week how crap Moussa is at defending... so I'm going to enjoy rubbing it in his face on Monday. Excellent from the young lad, always brave too after the tackles put in him going unpunished.
Never thought I’d be so pleased with losing 2 points, but that will hopefully stop the rot. A great confidence booster for the lads, and we can kick on now. Massive industry from Djenepo, he was an absolute terrier every time Alonso or Werner had the ball. Hard to pick which of the CB’s was best but Salisu had great awareness of what was going on. Main thing for me though was that the heads didn’t drop when they equalised, we just dug in that bit more. Great to see.
I think the heads didn’t drop after their goal as it was a fair one. Last week’s one threw the team as we were hard done by.
Really good stuff in terms of digging in and grinding out a result. Other than the penalty, they didn't look like scoring either, which says a lot. Djenepo fought like a warrior today, and as has been said, Salisu just has pace, power and a great reading of the game. Vesty really solid too. My only one concern (and it's been one for a while) other than an off form Danny, is that our most progressive midfielder right now is Oriol. He's sliding forwards passes that I would expect JWP should be doing...but just isn't (and never really has tbh). But I'll take a point all day long under the circumstances. (As has also been said, he may be Pompey, but Mount is some player).
Another very enjoyable game to watch. Chelsea took their first half press to a totally new level and we did well to go in at the half ahead. I actually thought the ref did OK though two studs up challenges on Djenepo should not have gone unpunished. Danny unlucky with penalty - I thought he actually got something on the ball but not complaining. All the layers performed well but after the 8hit he's taken from fans over the last few weeks, I think Ralph deserves credit for getting the tactics spot on.
Cracks me up when these ****ers complain on BBC about a team who spend nothing, “parking the bus” against a team that spend f*cking hundreds of millions on players every season. F*ck off!
Be careful, he still was all at sea at times defensively today, just worked his socks off and did some good tackles.
Can either or both assaults on Djenepo be reviewed retrospectively? Can (any) punishment be passed down to the players in question? Or will the incidents be glossed over, as it's Chelsea? (Cynical? Moi?)
“And it’s all Nor-thamp-ton, all Northampton FC!” It’s been a while since we sang, so I might have forgotten the lyrics.
